Good morning.
This is Larissa Hall Carlson with some invigorating sun breaths to help you loosen up,
Sweep out any lingering sluggishness from sleep,
And take on the day with fresh energy.
Begin by finding a steady,
Comfortable seat.
Or if you're feeling more peppy today,
Try these standing.
Take a moment to lengthen the spine,
Reaching the crown of the head up towards the morning sky.
Start to deepen your breath,
Breathing in and out through the nose if that's comfortable.
And as the breath deepens,
Notice how you're feeling this morning.
Is there any congestion,
Heaviness,
Sleepiness in the mind,
Sloth and torpor?
Let's clear all that out with sun breaths,
Coordinating each breath with the movement of the arms.
Let's begin.
Inhale the arms out to the sides and up overhead,
Reaching the fingertips towards the sky.
Stay tall as you exhale the arms out to the sides and down,
Emptying completely.
And again,
Inhale the arms out to the sides and up overhead,
Filling the lungs with fresh morning air.
Stay tall as you exhale the arms out to the sides and down,
Releasing tension and tightness and sluggishness.
Inhale the arms out to the sides and up overhead,
Flare the side ribs with breath,
Drawing in fresh oxygen and energy.
Stay elongated as you exhale the arms out to the sides and down,
Letting go of anything that you don't need for the day ahead.
Continue,
Coordinate the breath with the movement,
Warming up the shoulders,
Loosening the sides of the torso,
Airing out the lungs,
Taking in fresh air,
Clearing out the cobwebs in the mind,
Inviting brightness,
Brilliance,
Luster in the body and mind.
Let's take three more energizing,
Invigorating sun breaths.
Commit each breath to grow just a little deeper than the last,
Recharging your batteries for the day ahead,
Refilling your well,
Clearing the mind,
Inviting brightness in the spirit.
Then at the end of your next exhalation,
Release the hands down,
Let the natural breath return.
Take a few moments to pause and feel the effects of the sun breaths.

Awakened?
