If pain feels overwhelming right now,
If it feels okay,
Let your eyes rest on something still,
Or simply soften your gaze.
You don't need to change anything or make this go away,
And if being in your body feels like too much,
That's okay,
Just stay with my voice or the space around you.
If you can,
Notice your body being supported by the surface beneath you.
Just notice one place that's touching something,
Or even if it's the air against your skin.
The surface beneath you is supporting you,
And you do not have to do anything with it,
Just allow your body to be held a little more than it was.
Even if the intensity is still there,
This support is still here with you.
You might notice where your body makes contact.
Your back,
Your legs,
Your arms,
Your feet,
Even if it's your head resting against a cushion.
All you're doing is sensing something steady beneath you.
Just this point of contact.
Even a small amount of weight dropping into that support is enough.
You might notice the pressure where your body meets the surface,
Or the heaviness was simply the steadiness of it.
And if your attention gets pulled back into the intensity,
That's okay.
You can gently return to one thing,
The contact beneath you,
The feeling of being held even slightly.
We're not trying to fix this,
We're creating support around it.
If the sensation rises again,
You can come back here,
Back into the surface beneath you,
Back to one point of contact.
Anything steady,
Your body doesn't need everything to feel safe,
Just enough.
And you might like to take a nice deep breath in,
And slowly breathe out.
If you can,
Let your body relax more into the support beneath you.
Sometimes running your fingers through something soft,
Comforting,
Can help soothe and relax this moment.
And as you stay here,
You may begin to notice a slight settling somewhere.
Your body responds to support,
Even if it's subtle,
Even if it comes and goes,
That's enough.
Stay here a little longer,
Resting,
Or simply being supported.
Breathing in,
And breathing out.
And when you are ready,
You might begin to notice the sounds around you.
Something close by,
Or further away.
Just bring your focus back to the space around you.
And if it feels okay,
You might like to have a soft swallow,
Or a gentle breath out.
Taking the steadiness with you,
And letting that be enough.
