Come into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.
You could be lying down in a reclined position,
Sitting upright,
Or perhaps you have your legs up the wall in an inversion.
Tune in to your body and see if you can tell what it needs today.
As you settle in,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Beginning to take this journey inward.
Start with taking a few deep,
Slow breaths.
In through the nose and out through the nose.
When your breathing is slow and steady,
This tells your brain that everything is under control,
You are calm and safe,
And there is nothing to worry about.
Can you feel your body relax a little more with each exhale?
See yourself relaxing by a beautiful,
Calm lake.
Perhaps you're sitting on the deck of a cabin or in a chair on a pier that juts out over the lake.
Take the next few breaths to really visualize this lake.
Notice the size of the lake and the color of the water.
If you look up,
Are there clouds in the sky?
Now look around and take in the lake's surroundings.
A gentle breeze softly blows and you watch the thousands of tiny ripples it creates on the surface of the lake.
Can you imagine the feel of this breeze?
Your surroundings here are so calm and pleasant that it brings a feeling of complete peace.
This calm feeling washes over your entire body and mind.
You breathe in deeply and allow the peacefulness to fill you.
As you look over this peaceful setting,
You realize that you are in control of your mind and your body.
You can choose to release negative emotions and free up space in your heart and mind for positive things to come.
Take this time to release any worries,
Any disturbing thoughts,
Any sadness that you may be feeling.
Let those feelings float up,
Out,
And away.
Whatever has happened that has bothered you,
It is time to let that go.
Now let's choose thoughts that make you feel good.
When you focus on the positive,
You get more positive experiences in your life.
Imagine yourself looking out over that serene lake and repeat these three statements to yourself.
I am loved.
I am loved.
I am safe.
I am safe.
I deserve good things.
I deserve good things.
Take the next few moments to create your own phrases that reflect what you need in this moment.
How much love and encouragement can you shower yourself with today?
Now take in a deep breath,
Allow good feelings to fill up your heart and your mind,
Fostering a sense of joy that starts from within you.
Letting go of that visualization,
Allowing your breath to continue with a normal rhythm,
Let's begin to go deeper by considering the Hindu deity,
Brahma.
All things go through the cycle of being created,
Sustained and destroyed.
Brahma is responsible for creation.
If you consider each area of your life,
Your work,
Your relationships,
Your identity,
Each area needs to be worked on or else it will remain stagnant.
Turn your focus inward and ask yourself,
What area of my life have I been overlooking?
Sit with this question without trying to analyze or think,
Paying attention to anything that comes up.
What area of my life have I been overlooking?
Even though our deep listening question is inspired by a yogic concept,
You don't need to believe in it for the question to be valid.
The point is that you're practicing hearing and listening to your inner wisdom.
As you practice,
You might get a sense or a feeling of a message,
Or you might have a knowing of what the message is,
Or you may hear your message.
Maybe you didn't get any answer or a lot of times something comes up later.
There is no wrong experience.
Take a few breaths to process whatever came up for you,
If anything.
Listen to the following affirmation and then allow it to resonate deep within.
I will invest time and energy in myself.
I will invest time and energy into myself.
As we reach the end of today's practice,
Bring the palms together at heart center,
Slightly bowing your head.
Take a moment to reflect on your experience.
Were you able to connect with your inner wisdom?
Did you practice listening and being open?
Allowing this experience and any insights that you have gained to stay with you.
Bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.
Take your time.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow your body any movement that it needs.
