Welcome to this morning meditation.
I'm Kate and I'm so happy you've joined me here today.
This short practice is one I use very often in my life as a way of grounding myself,
Especially before a really busy day ahead.
So many of us wake,
Restless,
Full of this need to get on,
Tick off to-do lists,
Just start doing and achieving,
Almost as if doing creates our sense of worth and identity.
And this practice will allow you to explore the sense of strength and stillness,
The power of embracing the stillness of your morning so that you can have a more expansive and more grounded day ahead.
So let's get started.
Just find a comfortable position,
Whatever that means for you.
You might want to move your body just a little,
Just to make sure that you're totally at ease,
Not in any discomfort.
Either sitting up or if you're still in bed,
Lying down is absolutely fine.
And when you're ready,
Just closing the eyes down or if you prefer,
Just lowering them to the floor.
And you may find your mind a little distracted and that's okay.
Just notice that and come back to the body resting here and asking yourself what it feels like for the body to be still.
Most of our day is spent in movement.
Or if we're sitting,
Working,
Eating,
So much of our day is spent in our head.
And so just allowing our minds to check in with our bodies before we move on with our day can be a very soothing and grounding practice.
So just taking a moment now to gently scan from your head all the way to the toes.
And as you move through the body,
Just noticing any areas of tension.
And as you do so,
Just taking a few deep breaths into those areas.
So for the next moment or so,
Just scanning the body in your own time from the head all the way to the toes,
Seeing if you can embrace the stillness and the sensations within your body.
So if your mind's scattered while you're doing this,
That's okay.
Just gently bringing it back.
To the sensations within the body.
And seeing if you can bring deep awareness to the body resting here.
Asking yourself,
What does stillness feel like?
And imagining yourself busy in the rest of your day,
Walking to places,
Driving to places.
And now coming back to the stillness of your body resting here and embracing the beauty of that stillness.
That sense of deep,
Powerful rest and grounding.
Seeing this moment of reflection,
Of awareness,
As a way of deeply recharging the body and grounding the mind.
There is so much power in stillness.
And as we move towards the end of this meditation,
This short practice together,
I'd like to invite you to take a moment.
Think about the day ahead.
How would you like to feel as you move into the day?
Are you able to take a little of this stillness,
This inner grounding into the conversations you have?
Into the way you interact with others.
Into the way that you treat yourself.
This sense of stability.
This power that you found in the stillness.
So just taking a moment to reflect on your day and setting an intention as to how you'd like to feel.
And really setting that intention deep into your mind,
Your heart.
And just taking one more moment to connect in with the body resting here.
Embracing that stillness,
That sense of grounding and knowing that you can take it with you wherever you go today.
Allowing it to ground you,
Hold you and give you strength and peace.
Wishing you a beautiful day ahead and I hope to see you soon.
Take care.
