An Ego Death, Freedom From Ego Fear & Control

To learn about the ego is something that should be taught in all schools.
To know you are not your thoughts, feeling or emotions but the experiencer of these.
Not the separate individual I am, but the eternal cosmic I am.

The ego can be your greatest ally when treated as such. Treat it as your emery and it will do all it can to control and defy you!

Thank you so much ! That was exactly what I needed today ! Before I opened insight timer, I asked to know my mind and as I sat down I felt fear I asked to know where my fear was coming from and then I opened insight timer and found this meditation in my “for you”. It was a perfect match, thank you.

I thought this was going to be a bit strange and I was right I think.....but strange is good, it simply means it was outside of my previous experience. I've always been told the ego is bad, selfish, sinful. To recognise my ego for what it is, a beautiful protective part ofy being that is totally invested in my protection, has opened my eyes.
Also to step outside of time....the ticking clock of pressure and expectation, allowed me to embrace myself....my future self, my truest self.
I have always wanted to be a poet, a published poet, a wild and wise woman with much to offer to other women both creativily and spiritually, and yet I have remained frozen in fear.....suffering with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, chronic anxiety and at times overwhelming depression. Today for the first time I stopped fearing that I am 57 years old, frustrated that I cannot climb mountains, run trails and cycle all day, frustrated that I cannot work due to poor health and crippling fear. Today I stepped out of time and realised I am a poet, a creative, a wise woman, and educator and healer of souls. That what stops me isn't the passage of time but terror....my egos terror that I will be harmed again as I was as a child, that I will be broken by rejection and abandonment, that I will never fit in, never belong never succeed.
This meditation has given me such a gift. The realisation I can make friends with my ego. I can take tiny tiny steps to be creative, to risk knitting a square without fear of disaster if I drop a stitch. I don't have to publish book this year or even this lifetime.....but still, I am a poet. I don't have to lead a women's sacred circle or know how, but still I am a healer and teacher. If it takes me three, four, five life times to put one foot in front of the other, write a poem (I already have poems but I doubt them), I am already all I will ever be and all I was created to be.
When people ask what I do, I don't need to feel shame that I sit in bed unable to work. I can say, I am a woman, I am a poet, I am a healer, I am becoming and I have become.
