Welcome to this meditation for playfulness and creativity.
You may like to do this one in a tall,
Comfortable seat.
Or you could be lying down,
Even to go to sleep at night if you like.
Take a few deep breaths and fidget as you may need to to get comfortable.
Relax your shoulders and your jaw.
Soften your belly and any other tension you feel on the surface of your body.
As your breath finds its way to a natural rhythm,
Relax into that breath.
Allow the breath to move into your body as deeply or as shallowly as it likes.
Let it be as fast or as slow,
As rhythmic or uneven as it needs to be.
Don't resist the breath at all.
You are standing in a wide open field.
The ground is flat and expansive,
As far as you can see.
The sky is wide and blue on all sides.
It's the biggest sky you've ever seen.
The wind blows through the long grass and wildflowers in the field.
The field is dotted with pink and yellow blooms,
Cheerfully looking up at the beautiful sunny sky.
It's a warm summer day,
And the cool breeze feels delicious along your forearms,
Lifting the strands of your hair,
Sneaking under your armpits and around your legs.
The wind seems to want to play with you.
You feel totally relaxed,
Very light.
There's no one around to see you,
Not for miles.
It's just you and the flowers in the wide blue sky.
So you begin to dance with the wind and the flowers,
Running,
Jumping,
Moving and playing as the breeze skims over your skin and into your hair.
As you dance and play,
You feel lighter and lighter,
As if you yourself were made of air.
The wind tickles you,
And it makes you laugh.
You feel your breath deepening with the wind,
Leaning into its curves and streams and dips.
As you play and dance,
You notice that you are,
In fact,
Getting lighter.
Your feet are floating just above the grass,
The tips of the blades tickling at your bare feet.
The wind is holding you,
Nudging you like a leaf picked up in an eddy.
You feel it at your back,
Still a playful,
Loving presence,
As if it wants to show you something,
To introduce you to the freedom of its world.
You feel totally safe,
Completely supported by the wind.
You feel connected with the freedom in the air,
Totally held by the currents of the wind.
Your body feels soft and warm and weightless,
So you allow the wind to lift you.
You rise up away from the wildflower field,
Seeing more and more beautiful blue sky as you rise.
You can see the land changing below you,
Big yellow and red patches of farmland like checkers on a tablecloth,
Long wooded areas filled with strong trees,
Even mountains off in the distance.
You can see everything the wind sees.
You can move and play and shift with the wind.
It is thrilling and delightful.
You completely trust this wind because you know that right now you are a part of it and it is a part of you.
You know that you are safe and you could go back down to earth if you wanted to,
But you don't want to.
This is too much fun.
The wind continues to lift you,
Holding you with its strong jets and protecting you with its warm currents.
You find yourself above the clouds now,
Able to watch their pillowy whiteness shifting and changing under the sun.
The wind takes you right through one and you feel the dewy condensation of the cloud on your skin before the wind gently dries the beads of water.
You find that you can play here on the clouds with the wind,
Weightless and full of delight.
You dance with the wind and the clouds as if the cloud tops were your dance floor.
You feel incredibly free,
Incredibly happy.
You feel totally connected to your body and the way it intertwines with the power of the wind,
Which could be as strong as a hurricane or as sweet as a cool breeze.
You have that same power within you and you are playing with it here above the clouds.
After some time,
You and the wind begin to feel that it's time to return to earth.
Your limbs are tired from dancing and playing and you crave some stillness on the ground.
The wind wraps you up in a soft embrace that feels like the most comfortable bed you've ever slept on.
You relax into the support and feel that satisfied,
Exhausted feeling of having done exactly what you needed to do,
Play.
After a while,
The wind brings you back down into the wildflower field,
Returning you to the soft earth.
Your bare feet touch the ground and you feel the soft solidity of the fertile earth.
You wiggle your toes into the ground,
Grateful to feel the cool,
Comforting touch of the dirt below your feet.
You bow to the wind,
Thanking it for taking you on a journey,
For showing you its home and for reminding you that freedom and playfulness are a part of who you already are.
Whenever you're ready to return to the rest of your day,
You may simply open your eyes,
Returning to your world and remembering this secret breeze reminding you to play.
