This meditation is meant to help you to find calm in your day.
You can enjoy this meditation at the beginning of your day as you're slowly awakening.
You can enjoy this meditation in the middle of your day if you need a moment of calm amidst the chaos.
You can also enjoy this meditation as you're winding down for sleep.
I invite you to find a comfortable position either sitting upright or lying down.
If you're sitting upright please place a blanket or a pillow under the sit bones and allow the spine to lengthen.
If you're lying back placing a pillow under the head allow the body to be relaxed.
We're taking one last look around your space and then let the eyes soften and close.
Bringing the awareness to the breath and breathe in through the nostrils and release through an open mouth.
Again breathing in and releasing out.
One last time,
This time bringing the breath as much into the body as you can.
Taking the biggest breath yet today.
Releasing with a great big sigh and let the breath return back to normal.
Keeping the jaw and the teeth relaxed.
Let's bring the lips together and let the air pour in and out through the nostrils.
Can you clear the mind of all chatter,
Of all thoughts distracting you from this moment right here?
And then imagining deep within the reaches,
The edges of your imagination.
Imagining that you're walking along a beach.
Imagine what it would feel like to place your feet on the soft,
Soft sand.
Imagining what surrounding you may notice.
Which trees may hang out around the sand near the ocean.
If there be a greater gust of wind.
What sounds you might hear and what movements of the world around you you may notice.
Imagine yourself walking down at the edge of the ocean.
Maybe once in a while you feel the cool ocean water reach up and lick your feet.
Eventually you decide to sit down on the soft,
Soft sand.
And as you do you notice a stone in front of you.
The stone is smooth on all sides.
Shining black like coal.
And when you place it in your palms,
You notice it's smoothness like silk.
As you turn the stone over a few times,
You think about what forces went into creating something so perfect.
How the stone originated from temperatures hot beyond your imagination and pressure deep within the Earth's center.
And how then the forces of the wind and the ocean smoothed the edges of this rock and crafted it to the soft and round beautiful pebble that you hold in your palm.
And when you look at this pedal really closely,
You can see all of those forces at play.
All of a sudden something so simple and so tangible becomes much more complex.
You slowly place the pebble back down on the sand exactly where you found it.
And stand back up,
Walking over to the ocean.
You feel again soft,
Soft sand beneath your feet and the cool temperature of the ocean.
Eventually you stop and you look out to the horizon.
It is now time for sunset.
The sky begins to change color that is now filled with fiery orange,
Deep pinks and a purple that's like a soft lilac.
And slowly the moon starts to rise up from the horizon,
Glowing silvery light down to the ocean.
And then eventually meeting you on the sand.
You feel peace and calm in the body and a sense of stillness in the mind.
As you take a big breath,
You arrive back into your body.
The body that sits in a quiet space and meditates.
And you start to wiggle your fingers and toes.
And deepen the breath.
Starting to feel either the earth below you as you sit or the bed or the ground below you as you lie down.
Noticing the parts of the body that make contact with the ground.
Feeling the ground reach up to hold you.
On the next breath in,
Blink the eyes open and come back to your space.
Holding on to the same sense of peace,
Same sense of stillness and tranquility as when you were on the beach and looking up to the moon.
Have yourself a beautiful rest of your day.
A beautiful morning or a beautiful evening.
Namaste.
