Do you know the difference between focus thought and the voice in your head?
The brain is an instrument.
The mind is the brain in action.
We can use our minds to think and focus,
But when we are not intentionally using our minds,
What is responsible for the voice in your head?
Some of us do not have the awareness to notice the difference between our focus thoughts and the random voice in the head.
We believe we are the describing,
Comparing,
Judging,
Discriminating voice that is responsible for all the unneeded chatter that goes on behind our awareness.
It is so seductive that we lose our attention to the influx of thought process that this voice manifests.
The voice in the head can also be known as an inner speech,
The internalization of external speech.
But if you are not aware of this voice,
Then it can be known as the egoic voice,
An unconscious state that is the manifestation of the subconscious mind,
An expression of your personal history.
Most everyone has this type of chatter in their mind to varying degrees.
The difference is that some people identify with it and feel it is them.
The other people realize that their mind has taken on a life of its own and then decide to do something about it.
It is very important to realize that you are not the voice in the head.
As soon as the intellect identifies with the voice in the head,
It becomes the voice and will also protect its identity.
This is the reason why some people won't admit they are wrong due to the intellect identifying so strongly to the voice in the head.
They will protect their identification or mental position at any cost.
The voice in the head is different for everyone.
In some individuals it is very strong and in others not so strong.
Regardless,
It can be your harshest critic and likes to believe in its ability to change and shape your view of the world.
Much like a sports commentator commentating on everything in your life all day and sometimes all night.
It can be your best friend painting a beautiful picture or it can be your worst enemy inventing worst case possibilities.
And that's why you need to be aware of the voice in your head and remember to only identify with thoughts that have your heart in it.
Find a comfortable position for this meditation.
Lean a comfortable straight back and then gently close your eyes and mouth.
Let's start by taking a deep breath in through the nose and out through the nose.
In through the nose and out through the nose.
Taking long deep breaths.
On your inhale,
Feel the air coming in through your nostrils.
Follow the air as it comes down your airways.
And tune into the expansion of your lungs.
On your exhale,
Follow the air up through your airways,
Through your nasal cavity and out your nostrils.
Be aware of this process,
Paying full attention to your breath.
Now breathe in deeper by expanding your belly on your inhalation and then relaxing your belly on your exhalation.
Feel your breathing with your diaphragm through your belly.
Now let go of your breath.
Loosen all control over your breath.
Allow your natural,
Harmonious breath to take place.
There's no need to interrupt or disturb the natural flow of your breath.
The voice in your head doesn't know how to embrace silence.
You can only survive by filling silence up with chatter.
You cannot paint a masterpiece on a cluttered canvas.
Do not judge the voice in your head.
Realize that yes,
There is the voice,
But there is also a witness to the voice.
There has to be a witness or how would you know the voice existed?
Feel like you are witnessing and listening to my words right now.
Whether you are aware of it or not,
There is always a subtle witnessing that is in the background of all the noise in your mind.
Your field of awareness is the witness to all thoughts and phenomena.
Your true nature lies in the witnessing and listening,
In the observing and perceiving.
This is the sea of consciousness.
But when you identify with the voice in your head,
You're giving power to the voice.
And you give your power to thoughts.
And you believe you are the thoughts.
The infinite awareness becomes the finite expression.
The ocean becomes the droplet.
You are the ocean in which the droplet is expressed from.
Sense your presence.
It is not a thought.
It is beyond thoughts.
It is not a concept.
Sense your presence.
It is not a thought.
It is beyond thoughts.
It is not a concept.
It is beyond concepts.
It is also not an idea.
It is far beyond ideas.
Your presence arises from beyond your mind,
Beyond your senses.
It is the all-seeing eye that gives life to all.
Please take a moment now to sense the presence that dwells within your being.
Thoughts will come.
Thoughts will go.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Let them come.
Just allow this moment to naturally express as it will.
There's no need to try and control anything.
Let go of all control.
Let go of all expectations.
Just simply be in your essence,
Embracing this present moment.
Let go of all expectations.
Let go of all expectations.
Let go of all expectations.
Where are you before the voice appears?
Where are you after the voice disappears?
Where are you?
What witnesses the space?
What is aware of the space?
Face this space.
You give power to the voice in your head by feeding it attention.
Keep your attention within.
Realize you are not the voice in the head and just surrender to its random expressions.
Over time,
This voice will weaken its charge and no longer take over your conscious awareness.
It will always try,
But the power will always remain with you.
And the more you meditate,
The more self-aware you will be,
Empowering your being to only focus on what represents you.
Remember,
Before you react to the voice in your head,
Take a deep breath in,
Suspend the impulse to judge,
And simply be mindful of where your attention is going.
This voice is your voice.
The ultimate power of your being lies in your awareness.
Or the one who is truly listening.
Now,
For the rest of this practice,
Remain in a state of witnessing.
Listen to your inner speech,
But do not identify,
Judge,
Or interpret the internal dialogues.
Just stay as the observer.
And remember,
The more you listen,
The more self-aware you will be.
And the more you listen,
The more self-aware you will be.
And the more you listen,
The more self-aware you will be.
Now,
Come back to your breath.
Take in a few easy breaths.
