I've explored grief,
Triggers,
Stress,
Exhaustion,
And even overthinking.
This one I'm still processing,
And I'm not even sure where the lesson will land.
I just know I need to talk about it.
I always say meditation is simple,
But never easy,
Especially when we face hard things.
This meditation will explore safety and how we can support settling our nervous system.
I will now take you through a guided meditation.
At the end of the meditation,
You'll hear a soft bell.
It is important to come out of the meditation slowly and to take your time.
There's no rush.
I will be here guiding you through the entire process.
The theme of this meditation is safety.
And ways to support settling our nervous system.
Mindfulness is about engaging your attention in the present moment.
On what you're experiencing without judgment.
Let us center our attention and bring awareness to the present moment.
Let us begin this meditation grounded in safety.
As you become mindful of your body.
Mindful of your environment.
And as you maintain a gentle present moment focus.
Start by finding a comfortable position and let us settle into our breath.
Placing your feet flat on the ground with your hands resting comfortably in your lap.
Or if you're seated on a cushion,
Find a comfortable position and settle in.
Closing your eyes if you feel safe to do so.
Become present and relaxed in this moment.
Or if you prefer to leave your eyes open,
Soften your gaze,
Gently focusing on a spot on the floor in front of you.
Observe the sensation of the body and notice what you're thinking.
Notice if anything was triggered in you in the earlier discussion.
What are you feeling in your body?
When your mind wanders,
Come back to your breath.
Reminding yourself you are safe.
In this present moment.
As you become more relaxed,
Notice the chatter of your mind starting to quiet.
Being mindful of anything getting in the way.
And let it go on the next exhale breath.
Gently release any tension you notice.
Letting go of anything that might be getting in the way of you being here in this moment.
Breathing in to settle your nervous system.
And exhaling to settle your nervous system.
Let us consider what safety feels like in our body.
How we might settle our nervous system.
How we can settle intrusive thoughts that trigger us.
How can we be present in our mind?
In our heart.
In our safe place.
Notice where you feel the healing,
The safety in your body.
Remembering it's okay to have thoughts.
And when a thought occurs,
Simply notice the thought without judgment and then let it go on the next exhale breath.
Allow each area of your body to settle into the breath.
Exploring the sensations in your body mindfully.
And without judgment.
Notice if you're feeling any aches or pains in a specific area.
Any numbness or tingling sensations.
Reminding yourself you are safe.
You are present.
You are brave.
Breathing into the sensation and letting it go as you exhale.
Again,
Breathing into the ache or pain sensation.
And letting it go as you exhale.
Mindfully engaging your attention in the present moment.
On what you're experiencing without judgment.
Breathing into this present moment.
And exhaling into the present moment.
For this meditation,
Let us welcome everything.
And simply let go of any expectations.
At any point during the meditation,
If your mind starts to wander,
Simply come back to your breath as an anchor of focus.
Remembering to be kind to yourself.
We'll take the next few moments in silence,
Giving you the opportunity to continue to focus your breath as you mindfully maintain a gentle present moment focus.
I'll keep track of the time as we take these moments in silence together.
Let us honor our nervous system,
Our safety,
Our courage.
As we explore being present.
Keeping your eyes closed as we integrate back from the meditation.
Take as much time as you need to come out of the meditation slowly and mindfully.
Start by wiggling your toes or fingers.
Or any part of your body that feels right for you.
Notice your energy,
Your safety.
Your presence.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation and I hope you enjoyed the experience.
May we honor the courage,
Presence,
The light,
The love,
The truth,
The beauty,
Peace.
And safety.
In all of us.
Namaste.
