Good morning.
Before we get into the meditation,
Make yourself just that little bit more comfortable.
If you are almost falling asleep again and you want to stay awake,
Then I suggest sitting up straight,
Taking a few long and deep breaths in,
Waking up the body and bringing the mind back into the now.
Perhaps you notice your mind traveling to the future as soon as you wake up.
Can you allow your breath to be a safe space,
An anchor for living in this moment?
Can you allow the future to unfold just as it's meant to unfold?
The only thing we really have under control,
The only power we really have,
Is how we show up right here,
Right now.
Welcome a gush of that fresh new energy each time you inhale,
Allowing the breath to travel deep down into your stomach and your belly and then release your breath with a long sigh out,
Releasing any tension or any stuck energy from the past night.
With your next breath,
Allow the air to travel down even deeper,
Into both your legs,
Into both your arms.
Imagine this cleansing breath is reaching every single cell in your body,
Resetting your system and then release it with a long,
Loud sigh out.
With your next inhale,
See if you can inhale from the soles of your feet and exhale out through the soles of your feet.
Feel that groundedness,
Be where your feet are.
Whenever you get caught up in your mind,
In the future or in the past today,
Return back to where your feet are.
With your next breath in through the soles of your feet,
Imagining you are drawing that beautiful,
Steady,
Grounding energy from the earth into your body.
And as you exhale,
Release anything you haven't released yet through the soles of your feet back into the earth.
The earth can carry it.
It's ok to let it go.
Now take a small moment to notice how you feel and then turning your attention towards your heart.
You can maybe place one hand or both your hands on your heart and just like we did with your feet,
Start to breathe into your heart,
Filling up your heart,
Filling up your lungs and exhale from your heart out into the world.
Start to feel your heart open up,
Stir up and become warm.
See if you can find rest,
Warmth,
Compassion and love in your heart.
And you don't have to accomplish or do anything,
You are practicing the art of being.
Can you be with your heart right now?
And from this loving heart space,
Scan your body and notice if there are any parts of you that need your attention today,
Any voices in your head,
Sensations in your body.
Now bring your awareness to that sensation,
To that voice or thought and extend this beautiful warm compassion towards that part.
Let it know that you're here.
You hear them and you're here to help.
Extend in whatever way feels good for you this love,
Forgiveness or gratitude towards that part inside of you for they are trying to remind you of something,
They are trying to help you,
To protect you but you can let them know that you got this now and that you're both safe.
And now gently coming back to your breath,
Coming back to your heartbeat,
Taking a long deep breath,
Filling up your chest all the way to your belly and exhale,
Let it out with a sigh.
And if this feels right for you,
Bring a gentle smile to your face,
Embrace yourself,
Hold yourself,
Just like you held that part inside of you.
Extend the gratitude for this new beautiful day and for showing up for yourself in this morning practice.
I wish you a day filled with nourishment,
Joy and happiness.
