What is meditation?
Why is it important?
And how do you get started?
Meditation is a mental exercise that involves relaxation,
Focus,
And awareness.
There are many different types of meditation.
And many different reasons to meditate as well.
In fact,
There are 76 scientific benefits of meditation.
Some people do meditation for physical health,
Stress management,
And better sleep.
Others are interested in it for personal growth.
Healing,
Creativity,
And performance.
And of course,
Millions of people practice meditation for its original purpose of spiritual awakening.
Whatever brings you to the practice,
You will find tracks,
Courses,
And live events here on Insight Timer guiding you along this journey.
Any change you wish to make in yourself or in your life.
Will happen through your mind.
If your mind is distracted,
Negative,
Busy,
Or unruly.
Both your well-being and your goals will suffer.
Meditation is here to show you another way.
So let me take you through what I call the three pillars of meditation,
Habit,
Technique,
And transformation.
The first pillar that needs to be in place for you to truly benefit from meditation is a solid habit.
Of practicing daily.
Meditation is not like physical exercise where two or three times a week.
Is enough to keep you fit.
We need to meditate as a daily habit,
Just like eating,
Sleeping,
Showering,
And brushing our teeth.
A daily habit is what makes the difference between having a practice that feels good when you do it.
And one that will actually transform you in your daily life.
So here are four tips to start a daily habit.
Number one,
Know your why.
Start by having a strong why for your practice.
Think about what meditation can give you.
And how your mind and life can be better with it.
Number two,
Choose the time and place.
Take a moment now.
To choose when and where you will meditate.
You could set a reminder here in the app for your daily practice.
Or maybe anchor your practice on something that you already do every day,
Like meditating every morning after you brush your teeth.
Number three.
Start small.
But make a never zero commitment.
Commit to practicing five minutes every day,
No matter what.
Make this commitment to yourself that you will never go to bed any day.
Without having done at least a short meditation.
Then you increase your practice gradually.
And number four,
Right attitude.
Approach meditation with patience.
And try to enjoy the process.
Don't think that meditation is not working for you or that you are not good at it.
Just show up,
Do your best.
And commit to showing up again tomorrow.
That's all you need to do.
Now the second pillar of meditation is technique.
This means choosing a meditation technique that is optimal for you.
At this moment of your life.
And each style of meditation has a different focus,
Process,
And benefits.
It makes a big difference.
Find the one that works best for you.
So take your time to explore.
Until you find the teachers and techniques that most resonate with you.

The third pillar is transformation.
This is about taking meditation beyond the cushion.
And applying your new skills to your daily life.
For example.
In your meditation practice,
You develop skills such as self-awareness.
Focus.
Willpower.
Calming down the nervous system.
Letting go of unhelpful thoughts.
Managing your emotional states.
And self-acceptance.
Transformation means bridging this into your daily life.
So that your practice not only feels great when you do it,
But also becomes an active force of positive change in your life.
All right,
Thank you for watching,
And I hope that you enjoy your practice.
