Start with anchoring the attention in the body and breathing, before directing attention to consciousness itself. For some this may seem abstract, or too subtle, but it is simply our feeling of presence.

Bring your attention back to your body.

Feel your body,

The weight of your body,

Your muscles that are tense,

The beating of your heart.

Have the intention to consciously relax your body,

To relax your body fully from outside and inside.

Allow your breathing to settle down.

Pay attention to the movement of your belly,

Chest while you breathe.

In this moment there is nothing else for you to do,

Nothing that you need to decide or think about.

There is nothing that you need to respond to.

So allow yourself to indulge in this present moment and to just be here and now.

Pay attention to the movement of your breathing.

Feel the temperature of the breath and the movement of air on your upper lips.

Let go of everything that is not this present moment.

You can pick it up later if you need.

Please stay with your breathing.

Moment after moment.

Now notice how you are aware of your breathing.

Your breathing is an object in your consciousness.

You are aware of it,

Therefore you cannot be your breathing.

You are aware of your body,

Therefore your body is an object in your consciousness.

You cannot be your body.

You are aware of your thoughts,

Therefore your thinking is also an object in consciousness.

It cannot be who you are.

Who are you?

Who are you who is aware of everything else?

This question is not for your mind.

There is something inside of you that receives this question and knows how to look.

Everything that you perceive cannot be who you are.

You were there before you started perceiving it and you will be there after that thing disappears from your consciousness.

Who are you as consciousness?

Where is your beginning?

Where is your end?

Focus your attention on your sense of being,

On your feeling of existence,

Of I am.

Focus fully on this feeling of I am.

Moment after moment allow your mind to marinate in this feeling of I am.

Don't let this feeling connect with anything else such as a name,

A form,

A memory.

All these things appear inside your consciousness,

Therefore it is not who you are.

You are aware of them.

Just hear this pure feeling of I am.

If you get distracted with thinking,

Notice how even this distraction is also observed by you.

This distraction also is a phenomenon happening inside your consciousness.

If you drop everything,

If you let go of everything inside yourself that you can let go of and just for this moment you don't touch anything,

Reject identification with everything that arises.

What is the one thing that you cannot drop?

Who is the one that is dropping?

Can this one be dropped?

Remain as consciousness.

Be,

Be this space of consciousness that cannot be limited.

This space cannot be overshadowed by thoughts,

However many.

There is nothing lacking in this space,

Nothing extra,

No unfulfilled needs,

Nothing to be healed from.

In this space no problem can ever exist.

If the thought of a problem arises,

You know it is just a phenomena in your consciousness.

You are here before this thought arises and you will be here after this thought disappears back into emptiness.

Turn your attention inward 180 degrees.

Pay attention to yourself,

The I.

Who are you beyond your name,

Your story,

Your memories,

Your personality?

All these things are watched inside of you.

They may change,

But you are there to observe the changing.

They may disappear,

But you are there to observe the disappearance.

What is this you?

Let your attention and your mind rest quietly in this open space of awareness.

Just like a glass of water rests quietly when thrown in the ocean.

This space is always there.

You don't need to attain it.

You don't need to earn it.

It is who you are,

Every moment.

Just honor your being by remembering who you are.

Where is birth and death here?

Where is desires,

Fears,

Worries in this space?

Whatever happens,

Remain as this space.

You are the consciousness that perceives anything,

Everything.

There is no need to worry.

When you hear the bell,

It will be time to open your eyes and go back to your life,

Your activities.

But nothing changes for this space.

It is always there.

You can access it anytime because it is who you are.

Remember your being.

Remember that you are the witness.
