Hello and welcome to The Daily Insight.
My name is Giovanni Dinsman.
I am a meditation teacher and the author of Practical Meditation.
Meditation teaches us that inner peace is always available.
It is part of who we are,
Of our essence.
It is there deep behind all the noise of our mind and life.
And one of the doors to peace is space.
In the three meditations of today's Daily Insight you will learn three different ways to walk through this door and experience the joy of peace.
Close your eyes,
Take a deep in-breath and breathing out with a sigh.
Release all tension.
One more time breathing in and release out.
Third time breathing in and out.
Now close your eyes and relax into your body.
Feel your entire body as one.
Your body is always present so when you focus on your body your mind becomes present as well.
With every breath let the body become more and more still,
Solid like a mountain.
Notice the sense of peace and even pleasure in keeping the body still,
Relaxed,
Solid.
Now bring your awareness to your mind.
Notice the thoughts,
Feelings,
Images,
Anything that may be there.
Just keep watching the thoughts coming and going like people walking through a busy marketplace.
You don't need to stare at any of these people.
You don't need to stop and talk to them.
You can just sit back and watch them pass.
Do that with your thoughts.
Notice how the more you pay attention to your thoughts,
The more you observe them objectively,
The more their flow seems to calm down.
Notice how there is always a pause in between the thoughts,
However small.
There's always space between a thought and another.
Move your attention away from the thoughts and focus on the space between the thoughts.
After a thought has disappeared and before the next one comes,
There's always the space,
This pause.
Pay attention to that.
The more you focus on the space between thoughts,
The less thoughts matter.
In this space you find stillness,
Silence,
Peace.
The more you focus on the gaps between thoughts,
The wider the gaps become.
The space between thoughts is also the space from which thoughts come and into which they disappear.
Rest in that space.
Just like the clouds do not disturb the vastness of the blue sky,
Your thoughts,
However many,
Do not disturb the vastness of this space,
Which is always silent.
Let thoughts come and go as they wish.
You simply remain focused on the space between thoughts.
The space behind thoughts.
And remember,
You can always find this space.
Even in your day-to-day life,
This space is always available inside of you.
This short meditation teaches you how to let thoughts be and let thoughts go.
It guided you to pay attention to the space between thoughts as a door to inner peace.
If you want to go deeper,
Then I recommend you listen to the 20-minute version of this daily insight,
Which covers a different exercise.
Then choose one of these two versions to practice daily for 21 days,
So that you really master the skill of pacifying the mind.
This will make a difference for you.
But before that,
Please share with the group in the comments what is one word that describes how you feel right now.
