Hello,
Welcome to this Wuji posture tutorial.
When you start your Qigong practice you'll find that Wuji posture is a foundation,
A foundational pose of Qigong practice.
So as you join me with Yochi Qigong flows you'll notice that we always stand in a Wuji posture to start or perhaps seated in a Wuji posture to start and we do this to align the three forces.
The three forces are heaven,
Earth and human.
So the heaven energy is yang and it's a descending energy so it comes downwards.
The earth is a yin energy and it's ascending so it's coming upwards.
And then we have the human force or the human in the center.
The aim of our Wuji posture is to maximize our qi flow.
So there are five keys to maximize qi flow in our Wuji posture.
So the first,
Come and join me,
Is to relax and soften the joints.
So we do this by bringing our feet to shoulder width apart.
Now if you're not quite sure where your shoulder width is there's a little trick.
You can bend your knee down and where that knee comes to the floor is where your other foot will be positioned.
If possible we have the feet facing forwards.
Some people need to have the feet a little to the side to allow comfort of the knees.
And speaking of knees,
We relax the knees so we're not locking the knees.
We begin to relax and soften all the joints.
So this is the first key.
Relaxing through the toes,
Softening the toes to help them connect to the earth,
Softening through the ankles,
The knees.
We come here to the qua.
This is called the qua.
So we're not locked in this area.
We release the qua by,
It's almost like we go to sit on a seat,
But not that far down.
So just coming to release the hip area.
We are releasing and softening all the joints to allow qi to flow through them.
So we soften through the shoulders,
The elbows,
The wrists,
The fingers,
The jaw.
And then we come to our second key.
So the second key is in relation to our energy body.
The first key was for our physical body.
Second key is to activate the tai chi pole.
So this is this central channel of energy that runs through our body.
And we can activate our tai chi pole by lengthening through our spine.
So we can tuck our tailbone or lift the front of the pubic bone a little,
Tuck the chin in,
Bring the tongue to rest on the roof of the mouth behind the top front teeth.
And imagine a cord or a string attached to the crown of the head and it's lengthening.
So it's gently pulling and lengthening your spine,
Activating the tai chi pole.
Third key is to sink your breath down into your belly.
So soften your shoulders,
Your chest and allow your breath to sink down,
Down into your abdomen,
Into your lower dantian.
This helps to calm your nervous system,
Activate your parasympathetic nervous system into rest,
Digest,
Heal and grow mode.
The fourth key is to use intent rather than force.
So begin to relax your gaze,
Bring your awareness into the present moment.
We use 60 to 70% effort with our qigong flows.
And then our fifth key is to smile.
So allow the corners of your mouth to lift,
Allow that smiling energy to shine through your eyes and spread and connect you to your heart.
We have the human force of unconditional love nestled in the heart and we always want to bring this into our qigong flow,
Our qigong practice together.
So we've now activated the five keys to maximise qi flow.
We find ourselves in wuji posture.
