Lesson 1
Waking Up At Night: Why It Happens
Waking briefly during the night is a normal part of sleep. The difficulty often begins when we become fully alert and start worrying about being awake, checking the time, thinking about tomorrow, or trying hard to fall back asleep.
In this first day, we'll look at why night wakings happen and, more importantly, what can happen in those first few moments after you wake up.
You'll learn to notice your own pattern without judging it, and explore a simple shift from “I have to get back to sleep” to “I'm awake. I can rest.”
You don't need to change your whole sleep routine tonight. For now, the practice is simply to notice.
Tonight, if you wake up, observe what happens next.
Tomorrow, we'll look at what happens when the mind becomes busy in the middle of the night.

Lesson 2
Racing Thoughts At Night: Understanding Your Busy Mind
Why do thoughts seem louder and more urgent in the middle of the night? In this lesson, we look at what happens when worries, unfinished tasks, and emotions take over when you're trying to sleep.
You'll learn how to recognise when you're getting caught in a thought loop, create some distance from your thoughts, and decide whether something really needs your attention right now or can wait until tomorrow.
The goal isn't to stop thinking. It's to understand what's happening and learn a different way of responding when your mind becomes busy at night.

Lesson 3
Sleep And Noise: Dealing With Nighttime Disturbances
Noise and other disturbances can make it difficult to stay asleep, especially when they are sudden or unpredictable. In this lesson, we look at why certain sounds grab our attention and why waiting for the next noise can sometimes keep us more alert.
You'll learn practical ways to reduce disturbances when possible and how to make them easier to deal with when you can't control your surroundings. The focus is on realistic solutions you can adapt to your own situation, whether you're at home, travelling, or sleeping somewhere noisy.

Lesson 4
Create A Better Sleep Environment: Comfort, Light & Temperature
Your sleep environment doesn't need to be perfect, but small changes can make it easier to stay comfortable throughout the night. In this lesson, we look at practical factors such as temperature, bedding, pillows, light, your phone, and clock-watching.
You'll learn how to identify the things in your bedroom that may be disturbing your sleep and make simple, realistic adjustments without feeling that you need to create the “perfect” sleeping environment.

Lesson 5
When Sleep Isn't Happening: What To Do On A Difficult Night
Sometimes you've done everything you can, and you're still awake. In this final lesson, we bring the course together and focus on what to do in that moment, rather than getting caught in frustration or pressure to fall asleep.
You'll learn how to assess what's keeping you awake, decide whether to stay in bed or take a short break, and use the strategies that make sense for that particular night. We'll also look at how to learn from difficult nights without turning them into another source of worry.
The aim is to leave you with a simple, flexible approach you can use when sleep doesn't go according to plan.
