Hi,
This is Pod McGordon and I want to welcome you to a Living from the Heart.
I want to begin this meditation on sleep by saying that sleep is foundational and I know that with the world in this rapidly changing state,
It can be hard to sleep.
And I just wanted to offer you this meditation as a way to support you getting really restful and rejuvenating sleep.
Because sleep is what gives us bandwidth.
Sleep is what nourishes our bodies,
What makes it so we can see clearly and respond consciously.
So this is a meditation for you to get some really wonderfully nourishing,
Rejuvenating,
Restful sleep.
And maybe you'll be listening to this right before you go to bed.
Or perhaps if you awaken in the middle of the night,
You can listen to it and it can help you get back to sleep.
So let's begin.
Let's begin by making our bodies really comfortable.
Just take a moment to notice,
To notice your body and see if there are any adjustments at all that you want to make so you can be really comfortable in your bed.
Just feel the softness or the crispness of your sheets and the weight of your blanket and how cozy it is to be in your bed.
Sleep is sacred time,
Sacred time for you to let go of everything.
Everything you've been holding and carrying,
Whatever you've been thinking about or worrying about.
Now is the time to set it down and turn all of your attention toward yourself.
I'm here with you holding the space.
Even if it's the middle of the night,
I'm holding the space so that you can relax and rest.
And fall into a wonderfully relaxing,
Rejuvenating sleep.
So take some nice big breaths and with every breath you take,
Some nice big breaths and with every breath you can let go of whatever it is you no longer need.
And as you let go,
You can relax and perhaps you can feel how you are supported from underneath by your nice comfortable bed.
Just feel how you are supported right now.
And your body can soften as you feel how you are held.
Sensing the weight of your bones and letting everything settle.
And I invite you to settle and rest into the spaces between my words.
And you can trust that I'm here with you holding the space so that you can gently,
Easily begin to drift off to sleep.
Resting into the empty spaces.
And if your mind wants to wander,
You can very gently and kindly bring it back to your breath.
And the rising and falling of your chest.
You can rest knowing that you are not alone.
That lots and lots of other people are sleeping right now.
And you too can gently drift off into a deep sleep.
Sleeping and allowing your body to receive the nourishment,
This particular flavor of nourishment that is derived from deep sleep.
Just gently resting deeper and deeper.
Feeling how you're supported,
How you're cozy in your bed.
Now it's safe to sleep.
And resting deeper and deeper.
And resting deeper and deeper.
All the muscles in your face soften and let go.
As you drift off and fall deeper and deeper,
You rest well asleep,
Knowing your body is being nourished,
Rejuvenated.
It's as if you are being swaddled in a soft blanket.
A blanket of love that holds you as you rest.
You are held in the arms of love as you sleep.
So sleep,
Sweet one,
Sleep.
Allow yourself to sleep deeply.
Sleep deeply.
You are held.
You are held in a soft warm blanket of love.
And you are safe.
You are held.
And this,
This kind of sleep is so nourishing.
And you will sleep as long as your body needs to sleep.
Yes,
You will sleep and sleep.
Sleeping deeply.
You are held in love.
Held by life.
You are held.
And your body is intelligent.
It is being nourished right now by this deeply restful sleep.
And the more you listen to this guided meditation,
The deeper you will sleep,
Only waking up when it's time,
When your body,
When all of you is fully rested.
So you are invited to listen to this meditation as much as you would like.
I suggest you listen to it every night for the next week.
So that you can sleep consistently,
Deeply,
Getting deep rest.
Feeling nourished.
Feeling held.
And feeling loved.
Rest into the empty spaces and know that you are held.
That I am here holding the space.
And that you are enveloped in a blanket of love.
Allowing yourself to be nourished,
Rejuvenated.
And every time you listen to this guided meditation,
You will awaken after a full night's sleep.
Feeling deeply rested,
Rejuvenated and at peace.
Drops deeper and deeper.
Into a wonderful sleep.
Magnificently restful sleep.
That's right.
Trusting that it's safe to sleep.
That you are held in a soft blanket of love.

Receiving the nourishment of sleep.
