Lately, life has been teaching me that there is no rush. Here in the United States, we have gotten accustomed to being in a race to see how much we can do. However, when we slow down, we can appreciate the moment and, most importantly, we get to feel. We are humans, not robots, and we feel. By making a conscious choice to feel, we are intentionally saying yes to experiencing the whole gamut of feelings ranging from bliss to discomfort. If we look at nature, for example--it doesn’t rush to grow or be the biggest or brightest. It has an organic pathway to blossoming and so do we. *Gratitude to Marina Raye for sharing her music track “Awakening Dream” from the album Liquid Silk.

I'd like you to begin.

To begin by taking some nice deep breaths slowly and gently.

This is meditation about slowing down.

So take your time.

Take your time.

Make yourself really comfortable.

Really,

Really comfortable.

Turn your attention toward yourself with a big breath.

Because breathing,

Especially deep,

Slow breathing,

Is a wonderful way to relax,

To slow down,

To let your body settle.

Slowly breathing and relaxing,

Recognizing that you have carved precious moments out from your day,

To slow down,

To reset your whole system,

To align with the deeper current that is flowing through you.

So just taking your time,

Savoring every breath,

Luxuriating in this moment.

And if your mind wants to wander or look ahead into what's coming next,

Gently and kindly direct it back to this moment.

Because it is in the act of slowing down that you are discovering yourself.

You're giving yourself space to be.

And it is in this space of being that you can heal,

That you can receive insights and clarity,

Clarity about things in your life that you may have been trying to figure out.

By slowing down,

Information can come in.

So just breathing,

Feeling the weight of your eyelids and how they're gently covering your eyes and perhaps simply by noticing your eyelids and how heavy they can be,

Everything else can relax.

And right now,

You are creating new neural pathways for slowing down so that if you're in a situation where you feel like rushing or running away or running toward,

You can slow down and move toward or away gracefully,

Gently,

With kindness,

Welcoming what comes and releasing what goes with compassion,

Slowing down.

And you may discover that after you listen to this meditation,

You'll feel more relaxed and at ease.

And perhaps you'll notice when you have an impulse to rush that you recognize the habit pattern of rushing.

You pause and you slow down because there is no rush.

There is no rush in most situations.

But if you're being literally chased by a tiger,

Then it is wise to run as fast as you can.

And in our daily lives,

Most of us are not being chased by tigers,

Even though it feels like it.

Slowing down allows for the space of wisdom to arise to show itself.

Slowing down can feel so good and then even when you're moving physically,

Quickly,

Internally,

You can slow down,

Being aware,

Being present,

Noticing yourself connected to the current of aliveness,

To the nature of your own being.

Taking a few breaths and allowing everything that's been said and heard to sink in more deeply,

More deeply,

More deeply.

And so it is.

And so it is.

And so it is.

Thank you for this beautiful meditation. I wake up every morning and my mind starts to rush and think about the past the future… The drama that is swirling around around me within my family after the loss of my dad recently. As I went into your meditation. My head kept swirling , and to be honest, I thought maybe this wasn’t the meditation for me… However, I’m not a quitter, so I stuck with it, and what I noticed was that about four minutes in my mind, and my body softened and became calm. I started talking to myself in my head that there is no rush. my nervous system got the message. Thank you so much.

Padma, what a wonderful meditation. I do think, like you, that life has turned into rushing everyday. In the big cities it's like everyone has to run just because. And i have find a lot of joy in slowing done. It's difficult cause i'm also used to that other way, but with practice i think we can enjoy lots more of our days if we take a pause and slow down. There's no tiger behind us (love that jaja). Have a beautiful day and now i want to listen to some other of your meditations (:
