Welcome to this yoga nidra practice for the full moon.
Tonight's full moon can stir up our emotional energy and stress but also bring us some clarity on what we need to be released in order to propel us forward to fulfill desires for the upcoming lunar cycle.
So enjoy this rest practice to release any stress that you may have been feeling due to the increased life force energy and allow yourself to rest in practice today.
In order to help us move forward for the next lunar cycle this practice will focus on grounding,
Reflection and letting go of anything that you no longer need to take with you.
You may notice during this practice some truths that rise within you as this is an emotionally heightened time.
And whenever you're ready let's begin to settle in now.
You may wish to get comfortable,
Bring some extra pillows or blankets,
Really attend to the physical comfort of your body.
And when you're ready and settled in you may wish to close down the eyes or take a soft gaze.
Begin to notice your natural breath as your body begins to settle in.
Without changing anything just notice your natural breath here.
Really feeling into the prana,
The life force energy that your breath is moving through your body.
And starting at the number 11 we're going to count down the breath.
11 is a number in numerology of intuition,
Insight and inspiration.
So beginning at 11,
Breathe in,
11,
Breathe out,
11,
With your natural breath,
Breathe in,
10,
Breathe out,
10.
Continue breathing in this way with your natural breath.
If you lose count,
That is okay,
You can start again at 11,
Bringing your mind back to counting.
And now release your awareness on your breath and bring awareness to your mind and your mind's eye.
And ask yourself what has brought you to this practice today?
What is it that you intend to release during this lunar cycle?
Allow your intuition to guide you here.
This is your sankalpa,
Your intention.
And take a moment to translate your sankalpa into a statement of I,
I am,
Or even a may I statement.
And you may wish to use this one,
May I release what I no longer need to take with me today.
Or simply,
I let go.
Repeat your intention in your mind's eye now.
And as you feel your awareness drifting to your sankalpa,
You may wish to release any expectations that you may have for yourself today or for this practice.
Notice what expectations you have in your mind or even your body.
Just notice what you're holding on to and give permission to release any tension in the body from expectation,
The shoulds or coulds.
Release these now as you rest back.
Allow your expectations to soften in the body,
Relaxing your muscles back.
And allow yourself to receive this practice exactly as you are in this moment.
You are the recipient of whatever experience that you have today.
So simply accept and release.
Noticing any tension in the body as you rest back and softening it now.
And now gather your awareness,
Imagining that your awareness is a tiny pinpoint of cooling moonlight.
Allow light to flood at each point that I name and allow the moonlight to clear anything unwanted starting with your left thumb.
The palm of your hand.
Place your pinpoint of moonlight on your left wrist.
Left side of the chest.
Place your pinpoint of clarifying moonlight at your heart center in the center of your chest.
Feel into this energetic space as you rest deeper.
The right side of the chest.
The palm of your right hand.
Allowing the energy of the pinpoint of moonlight to clear anything at the palm of your right hand.
First finger.
Second finger.
To your navel center.
The pinpoint of moonlight at your navel center.
Left side of the pelvis.
The center of the pelvis.
Placing your pinpoint of moonlight on the base of your left foot.
Second toe.
Bring your awareness to the center of your pelvis.
The center of the pelvis.
The right side of your pelvis.
The sole of your right foot.
The top of your right foot.
Your big toe.
Second toe.
Your big toe.
Drift your pinpoint of awareness now at the base of the spine in the back body.
Awareness at the base of the spine.
The upper back.
The left side of the back.
The pinpoint of moonlight to expand and cover the left side of your back.
Softening the energy here.
And now the right side of your back.
Allowing your awareness to expand to cover and soften the right side of your back.
Bring your awareness now back to the heart space in the front of the body.
The pits of the throat.
The center of the throat.
The center of the throat.
The inside of the mouth.
Allowing the pinpoint of moonlight to spread through the inside of the mouth.
And now the left cheek.
Noticing your natural breath here.
Noticing the hint of breath as you're breathing naturally and softly here.
Eye.
Softening the eye.
Releasing any tension on your eyelids.
The center of the forehead.
Allowing your awareness to absorb in here at the center of your forehead.
The top of the head.
And see if you can sense into the energetic space just above the top of the head.
Almost like you're wearing a crown and you could sense into the crown above your head.
In your energetic field.
Imagining you could hold your pinpoint of moonlight here above your head.
And now imagine that this moonlight is showering your entire body with cleansing and clearing energy.
Notice the color or the sensations of this moonlight showering your entire body.
Noticing your entire body here.
See if you can concentrate this energy in the front of the body.
Allowing the moonlight to spread all the way through the front of your body.
Absorbing cleansing energy.
The back of the body.
The whole back of the body being cleansed here.
And now drift your awareness back to your mind's eye center.
Allowing your awareness to absorb here in your mind's eye center.
In your mind you may visualize or build a felt sense of each symbol that I name.
No need to refine.
Just listen and receive from your intuition.
A warm candle on a cool day.
A beautiful misty woodland.
A lantern in the night sky.
A circle of warm light.
Release that now and bring your awareness back to your breath.
We're going to count the breath up to 11.
Starting at 1.
On your natural breath,
Inhale 1.
Inhale 2.
Exhale 2.
Continue breathing this way in your own time.
If you lose count,
Start again.
That is okay.
And now receive your sankalpa from your subconscious.
Allowing your intuition to bring your sankalpa back.
And repeat it in your mind's eye.
May I release what is no longer needed today.
And now take a deep breath in through your nose and see if you can pick up any aromas from your environment.
They may be faint or strong.
Begin to notice the sounds in your environment or the sound of my voice tuning back in to your waking life.
You may wish to place your hands on your chest and feel into the gratitude to yourself for practicing here today.
And then begin to make some bigger movements.
You may wish to stretch your body,
Stretch your legs.
You may wish to stretch your mouth,
Imitating a yawn.
Whatever feels soothing and wakeful to you.
And whenever you're ready,
You may open your eyes as the practice is now complete.
You may wish to share in the comments below one word that reflects how you're feeling now.
