Herself,
And couldn't exactly have moved This recording is part of the Mighty Mighty Mantra series.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for showing up to practice today.
Settle into a cross-legged posture with the hands open facing upward.
Or if you're lying down,
Then put arms to your side facing upward.
Maintain a straight back with its natural curves,
Feeling the spine being massaged by the breath.
With the face slightly upturned,
Allow your focus to rest between the eyebrows.
Gently close the eyes and mouth,
Leaving a slight space between the teeth and the lips.
If you are depressed,
You are living in the past.
If you are anxious,
You are living in the future.
If you are at peace,
You are living in the present.
This quote is by Lao Tzu.
Observe your body breathing.
If there are any areas of resistance,
Breathe into these areas.
Move into these areas.
Feel the body being massaged by your gentle,
Full,
And conscious breathing.
Observe your mind.
If there are any distracting thoughts,
Breathe in a quiet rebellion.
You do not have to chase or entertain these thoughts.
Just observe.
If you have to take refuge from your mind in your breath,
Do so with a tender heart.
Be gentle to yourself,
For this is the practice.
Observe your emotions.
If anything comes to the surface,
Breathe into them.
Feel your heart with the clean energy of the air,
And let some of it go with the exhale.
As we sit in silence,
Observing the way we breathe and create gentle distance between our various animations,
We are practicing the art of allowing,
Allowing what is to be,
All of it.
The so-called good.
The so-called bad.
Not only existing,
But without reacting.
Without doing a thing.
Many people will spend most of their lives resisting what is already there.
The thoughts,
Feelings,
Physical sensations,
What's happening around us,
Etc.
So much so that life becomes me versus the world.
Because so many things will not go our way.
And this can cause resistance to life.
As we take a break from the self-centric mind and bring it to be the open sky mind,
Our senses seem futile,
And one can find peace and full acceptance,
Full allowingness.
So for the next few moments,
We're allowing what is to be.
That breath is our anchor and we can always come back to the breath.
Take a steady,
Full,
And conscious breath in.
And let it out.
Imagine the breath as the waves in the present moment as the ocean.
When each wave laps against the sand,
Your exhalation leaves you ready for a new breath.
When each wave flows back into the ocean,
Your connection to the present moment deepens.
As you inhale,
You feel a sense of peace flooding your being.
As you exhale,
You feel it flushing out any toxins,
Tension,
And resistance.
The breath as the waves,
The present moment as the ocean.
As we take the driver's seat to the act of breathing,
We send a message to every cell in our body.
We're sending a message of peace,
Tenderness,
And love.
Deep conscious breathing is one of the body's strongest self-healing tools.
As you continue breathing,
Feeling the waves further merging with the ocean,
Feel it lowering blood pressure,
Reducing the heart rate,
Decreasing stress hormones,
Exercising the lungs,
Increasing physical and mental energy,
Improving your immunity.
Feel this happening within you,
In your body,
To allow whatever is to be present.
You are the observer.
Remember the breath is your refuge,
Your anchor should you need it.
If the mind is a rambunctious monkey to get your attention,
That's okay.
Allow the mind to be as it is.
It will tire itself out if it doesn't receive the attention that it wants.
If the body is uncomfortable or held up in any sort of tension,
That's okay too.
Allow the body to be as it is.
It will copy the mind and settle when the mind does,
When the mind settles.
If the emotions are thrashing about or creating a foul atmosphere,
That's alright too.
Allow the emotions to be as they are.
They are taking instructions from the monkey.
So let the monkey know you aren't amused at this time and it's time to chill.
Guide your awareness back to the ebb and flow of the breath,
The waves,
The expansive ocean.
Thoughts,
Emotions,
And even your body's sensations come and go.
They are all temporary.
The ocean waves are sweetly inviting us to flow with the moment-to-moment direct experience.
As our grips loosen and our perception opens up,
Our spiritual and eternal nature comes through,
Shines through us.
See the observer in this moment accepting,
Allowing,
Just being.
Repeat after me.
My body is a structure of peace.
My mind is a structure of brilliance.
My emotions are a structure of love.
Lead me from what is misguided to what is true.
Lead me from what is ignorant to what is liberated.
Lead me from what is limited to what is eternal.
May the harmony of this world live and breathe within me.
My body is a structure of peace.
My body is a structure of brilliance.
My emotions are a structure of love.
Lead me from what is misguided to what is true.
Lead me from what is ignorant to what is liberated.
Lead me from what is limited to what is eternal.
May the harmony of this world live and breathe within me.
Feeling the air gently come in through the nostrils and pass down through the chest and into the lower abdomen.
Expanding until full,
Then gently releasing.
Feeling the abdomen shrink effortlessly.
In and out.
In and out.
Allow that gentle breath to massage the body.
Become aware of your whole body supported and relaxing even more with an open awareness.
There's nowhere else to be but here.
You are safe and finding ways to cultivate a state of harmony within.
Your body is creating a chemistry of peace.
Let us be grateful for this breath,
This life force that allows us to be here in this body.
Welcome everything and practice allowing it to be whatever it is.
It does not control you.
It does not control you.
The meditative self that we are all capable of is just like the ocean waves rolling in and out.
The more you search for it the more powerful it will be the more you will even see it.
Take a deep,
Slow breath as you bring your attention back into the room and ready to go forward into your day.
It is my wish and blessing that this enhances your life in some way.
