This meditation offers a fresh perspective on the genetic code that makes up each of us, ushering in awareness and access of potential within our bodies and minds. This meditation is a part of a larger series, facilitating "innerstanding" between body, mind, and soul. This is utilized within this teacher's Reiki Level 1 & 2 class, taught virtually. (43)

Hello,

My name is Eden,

And I am a therapist,

Reiki teacher,

And meditation guide.

Now whether you've found this meditation through one of my Reiki courses or just through the web of life,

Welcome.

These meditations are intended to deepen your relationship to your intuition and gifts,

And facilitate an understanding of your own internal landscape.

Each meditation is also a tool that can be offered to yourself or a client,

So I invite you to notice what shifts within you before,

During,

After,

Beyond the meditation,

Cataloging the effects with words and feelings and sensations.

Just letting yourself take note.

Allow it to be personal and universal.

Let's begin.

Wherever you are,

Finding a slightly taller spine,

Gently tucking the chin so the spine can elongate all the way through the crown of the head.

Really letting that back body get long,

Without scrunching the front of the body.

Can you just sit a little taller?

And today we're going to be digging into something a little more scientific.

We are all made up of DNA.

Every physical embodiment of you is thanks to DNA.

There's magic already here,

In this,

And that every little part of you is a little part of the DNA code.

And not all of it is expressed all together.

We have DNA for our fingernails,

For our irises,

For our skin,

And these are all expressed slightly differently as different parts of our body,

But still us,

Still unique to us.

There are parts of the DNA code that are being expressed,

And parts that are just laying dormant in each of these parts,

The fingernails,

The iris,

And the skin.

Yet the DNA is yours,

Uniquely yours,

No one has ever had your DNA,

Your fingernails,

Your irises,

Your skin.

Can you just let that miracle soak into you right now,

Softening to it.

And now we have these super long lines of DNA,

Some parts expressed,

Some parts not.

And what science now knows,

That spirituality has been saying for a long while,

Is that to a point there are also choices that we get to make for ourselves,

For our expression.

We have the science of genes,

Genetics,

And then we have this kind of newer division called epigenetics,

Which studies how the genes can change.

There is not so much change that our one long line of DNA can make within ourselves,

But the shifts more come in what parts of that long line of DNA are expressed.

Some parts are bunched really close together,

Making it difficult to be expressed,

While other parts are long and spacious and ready to be expressed,

Ready to be transcribed,

Transcripted,

Is the verb.

When they are transcripted,

They can then be put into action and effectively embodied.

The transcription that allows your fingernails to grow the way they do,

Your irises to function,

As they do,

Your skin to function as it does,

The spaciousness in parts of the DNA that allow for repetition and embodiment.

Just an invitation here before we dig in even more to soften the physical body so much that you maybe start to feel a little buzzing,

A little energy,

A little lightness in your body,

On the skin.

Noticing that you are alive,

Every cell alive,

Right now,

Right here.

And now epigenetics teaches us that there are processes that happen within us that can make those tightly wound parts of our DNA become more spacious so that they can be transcribed,

So that they can be utilized and embodied.

There is a process called methylation that can just tag different parts of our DNA so that our body knows to go there,

To transcribe it,

To embody it.

There are these things called histone proteins that can allow for that tightly wrapped area of DNA to relax and vice versa.

They grant accessibility to our potential.

And chromatin also has a similar effect,

Making genes more open or more compact.

There's accessibility here.

There's openness here.

There's potential for change here.

And yes,

These are physical processes within our physical body,

And our body is miraculous.

We are still uncovering the powers of the mind.

We don't even really know where the origin of a thought comes from in our brain.

And perhaps it comes from the soul,

Less understood but so,

So present still.

So in this meditation,

We invite in spaciousness on a cellular level,

Imagining that your genes soften and open to usher in potential that we might not fully understand,

But we can invite in.

Maybe you just asking for your DNA to unwind could be enough right now.

We know that the mind does have power to ask something of the body and for the body to do that thing.

Right?

We know that the mind can shift the breath,

Tighten muscles.

So just imagining now that the mind also asks the DNA to unwind,

Opening up to potential that is most supportive to your evolution,

To your life's journey.

We don't need to know exactly what that is.

Maybe to you it is health or confidence or openness.

Maybe there's something really specific coming through.

Can you just soften to that,

Imagining all of your DNA unwinding,

Opening,

Allowing for transcription,

Allowing for deeper embodiment,

Cellular embodiment.

Just imagining what would that feel like?

And if this stays imaginal,

That's perfect.

And if it shifts beyond imaginal,

That is too.

Maybe it starts to be a felt sense of opening,

Of spaciousness,

Of change,

Of embodiment.

There's no wrong way to be.

We just acknowledge the potential that exists within you on a cellular level.

There's no denying it.

Taking three more breaths into this version of you,

The one that is filling up on potential.

Potential,

Lived,

Embodied,

That's change.

And with your final exhale,

You can let that go.

Just breathing into the body naturally.

Knowing that the choices that you now have also as you move forward into your day,

Also inform this potential and allow for embodiment to begin.

So taking one more moment to thank yourself and make a promise to yourself to show up how you hope to today.

And whenever you're ready to return to the day,

I invite you to do so.
