Hi,
And welcome to day four of the mindful minute.
This is Laura.
And today I'd like to talk about the Ujjayi breath or ocean breathing.
So this is also a diaphragmatic breath,
But there's a sound quality associated with it.
When you inhale through the nose,
See if you can generate some sound through your upper chest in the back of your throat.
You can begin this breath by exhaling through your mouth as if you're trying to fog a small mirror,
Also generating that ocean quality sound.
As you get more comfortable with this breath,
You can close your mouth and again,
Exhale through your nose but generating that same sound.
So go ahead and find a comfortable seat.
Close your eyes or turn your gaze downward.
And we'll inhale through the nose,
Exhaling as if we're fogging a mirror.
Some may call this the Darth Vader breath.
Feel it in the back of your throat.
It allows us to focus and concentrate,
Allows us to control our breath and slow our nervous system down.
Feel free to continue this breath and enjoy.
