And you can do this meditation standing,
Seated,
Or lying down.
Probably best with your eyes closed.
Make yourself comfortable,
Yet settled in.
Deep breaths,
Just extending into yourself.
Settling down.
Feeling comfortable with gravity and letting gravity and the earth do more work than you do right now.
Muscles getting soft.
Energy settling.
Feeling more still and more quiet.
Knowing that we will always vibrate slightly,
Shift slightly,
And that we can't be truly silent,
But quiet is good,
Good enough.
And in the quiet,
Letting something else come in,
Letting the universe in all its glory attend to you.
Discovering.
You're going to get distracted during any meditation or any period in your life.
That's part of the brain's natural function,
What's keeping you alive.
And when you do,
Just return either to my voice,
Your body,
Your breath,
Your pulse,
Maybe your digestion.
Coming in.
Over the course of this meditation,
We're going to let go seven times,
And then draw in seven times.
And what you let go is up to you.
You could try to let go of things that won't let go of you,
Let go of old patterns,
Let go of unhelpful ways of thinking,
Or just places where you sin against your own talent and your own spirit.
Departing from.
We'll do that seven times,
And then we'll gather in seven times.
You could gather in God,
If that's a word with which you're comfortable,
Mystery,
Higher power,
Deeper reality,
Love,
Or joy,
Or the universe,
Whatever you might need.
Gathering it in seven times.
So settling down first,
Just coming into your most comfortable spot,
Letting your body find its most comfortable seats or bed or stance.
Perhaps letting your eyes close if they haven't already.
Letting heavy,
And then letting go once.
Whatever it is,
Whatever form,
Image,
Or impression you need to let go of today,
Just let it drift off of you,
Waft away like steam or smoke or a cloud.
Letting go.
Feeling yourself get lighter.
Breathing into that lightness and breathing out what doesn't serve you,
What isn't working.
Let's do that again a second time.
Letting go,
Feeling it,
Whatever it is for you,
Drift away,
Becoming lighter.
Checking in with your body,
Seeing if you feel more relaxed as you let go.
You might.
You might not.
Just be curious,
Gentle,
And appreciative.
Then a third time,
Let go.
Letting yourself carry less,
Letting go.
Let go again,
A fourth time.
Letting all your worries or distresses drift upward,
Outward,
Downward,
Just away,
Off.
Releasing from that with your breath.
Let go a fifth time.
Let go again,
Number six.
Washing off you,
Drifting away,
Floating.
One more time.
Last time,
Just let go of it all.
Maybe you feel lighter or more relaxed.
Maybe nothing's changed.
Just be curious,
Fascinated by yourself with generous awareness,
Even delight.
Now that you've let go,
Is there something you want to bring in?
You could call it God,
Holiness,
The sublime,
Light,
Joy,
Significance,
However you understand what's greater and more beautiful and more true.
Draw it in one time,
Drawing in something precious,
New patterns,
New attachments.
Draw in again for a second time.
Whatever is calling to you,
Call to it and pull it closer.
Draw in a third time,
Inviting,
Opening yourself to a mystery,
Welcoming.
And now a fourth,
Again,
Opening self,
Drawing in what serves you,
Inviting in new patterns and surprises,
Settling it in with your breath,
Pulling deeper.
And then a fifth time,
Drawing down,
Inviting in,
Breathing it all in.
Number six,
Pull it in,
Open yourself to what is fabulous and beyond you,
Miracles of daily living,
All of it,
Whatever you need right now.
Once more,
One last time,
One more sacred invitation,
Bring something special all the way in.
Draw it down to your utmost center,
Your core.
The root of self,
Pull all of it in.
Take a few more moments to notice what all this has done to you.
How do you feel now,
Physically,
Emotionally,
And spiritually?
Breathe it all and cast an awareness around generously to see what's new.
