Avalokiteshvara Chant Song

Avalokiteshvara is the name of the Bodhisattva who is able to see in all directions any being who is suffering and in need of compassion.
It is one of the most loved Plum Village chants founded by the Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh.

It is for our hearts in times of sadness, grief and suffering.

When we sing the name Avalokitesvara for the first time, we go back to ourselves and try to touch the suffering inside of us.
When we sing the name for the second time, we become aware of the suffering of the people around us.
When we sing it for a third time, we get in touch with the suffering in the world.

The phonetics are Namo- Va-low key- tesh va reye, eye eye eye-a

This is so peaceful and lovely that I want to listen to it over and over. Wish there weren’t a bell at the end to disturb the very peaceful feeling that the chant engenders. Beautiful voice.
I did put the track on repeat so I could listen to it over and over to calm and care for myself on an extremely difficult morning. I could feel the compassion flowing over me and through me and surrounding me like a warm cloak of loving care. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It is very much needed in these difficult days when there is so much cruelty and hatred around us. I, for one, need to be reminded that there is also great love.
