Easing your way into a comfortable seated position,
Gently closing down the eyes if that is possible or maintain a soft gaze in front of you.
Begin to feel your body being supported by the ground.
Allow it to rest your attention on your breath.
Now bring to mind someone that you care about,
It could be a family member,
A friend or even the barista you get your coffee from each morning.
Acknowledge that they are a fellow human just like you.
Silently repeat the phrases after me as you visualize them in your mind's eye and heart.
This person was once a child,
Just like me.
This person has experienced moments of joy,
Just like me.
This person has loved someone,
Just like me.
This person's heart has been broken,
Just like me.
This person has been scared and worried,
Just like me.
This person has felt unworthy,
Just like me.
This person will one day depart this world,
Just like me.
This person wishes to be free from suffering,
Just like me.
This person wishes to find happiness,
Just like me.
This person wishes to be loved,
Just like me.
If it feels right,
Gently place your hand on your heart.
Let the touch of the hand be kind,
Nurturing and warm.
Now sensing from your heart space,
Allow some well wishes to arise for this person.
May you be free from pain and suffering.
May you have the strength to deal with whatever challenges come your way.
May you move through life with flow and grace.
May you experience love and joy.
Because you are a human being,
Just like me.
The person you care about is now glowing from all the well wishes you sent.
You see them,
Having received your wishes,
And understand that they are happy,
Content,
Free from pain and suffering.
Your light is so bright that it bounces back to you.
