When our worries become overwhelming and a state of peace and rest is difficult to find, this Yoga Nidra is designed to guide you gently into a balanced, centered, and peaceful rest. Lay yourself down or sit in the most comfortable and cozy space. I recommend using earphones for optimal sound and an eye cover if that feels good to you. Enjoy and let me know how it was for you.

If wisdom called to you,

What would she say?

Welcome yourself to this Yoga Nidra practice.

My name is Rachel and from my heart I'm here to guide you through this practice,

To resolve your worries and to meet your inner wisdom.

Gather all that you need to create your safe and sacred space to lay down or sit comfortably.

Whether you have practiced Nidra before or not,

This is a practice for you,

The whole of you.

All of you is welcome and invited into this deep and restful space.

Welcome your whole body as you lay yourself down.

The whole body is welcome here.

Welcome your whole mind.

Welcome all thoughts and worries as you lay yourself down into this space of rest.

Shift and adjust as much as needed to find a level of comfort that feels like you have arrived.

Allow a heaviness to enter the body.

Bones feel heavy.

Tendons and muscles feel heavy as the body feels the pull of gravity,

A gift from Mother Earth to rest.

As you welcome your whole self,

Perhaps it feels good to make an intention for this practice.

Whether it's to simply feel more at peace,

To feel calm or to change a perspective or belief around something,

You can make your intention now.

Remind yourself to remain aware and awake during the practice of Yoga Nidra as best as you can.

Allowing your conscious awareness to stay fully awake as the body and mind are invited to rest deeply.

Generally become aware of the sounds around you.

Feel any fabrics,

Surfaces touching your skin.

Notice the temperature of the air.

Follow as breath enters your body,

Just beginning to notice your breath moving in and out,

Finding a rhythm,

A cadence to follow.

In your mind's eye,

Watch as your torso balloons and expands with breath.

Exhale,

Soften,

Soften,

Soften and the body releases breath.

Visualize your breath slowing and softening as if it is in slow motion,

Allowing everything to slow down and to become full and crystal clear.

Begin to bring to mind a place of sanctuary,

An inner resource,

A place that fills you with joy and shelter.

This can be a real or imaginary place.

Feel yourself there,

Sense how it is to be in the place of peace and happiness.

Receive this experience throughout your whole body and know this inner sanctuary is somewhere you can always return to in this practice and in life itself.

Notice yourself being breathed.

Watch in awe as the body does exactly what it needs.

Welcome yourself,

Your whole self.

All is welcome here.

Become all and any healing that wishes to occur during this practice.

Stay with my voice as you shift your focus to the center of your chest.

Search for the warmth and beat of your heart and land full presence in the space of your loving heart.

Allow breath to move into the heart.

Invite a felt sense of loving kindness flowing from your heart into the body.

Bring this loving kindness into the center of your throat.

Soften the throat.

The jaw and mouth softens with loving kindness.

Cheekbones soften.

Lips and eye sockets soften.

The forehead softens.

Back of the head softens into the support beneath you.

Soften down the back of the spine from the top of the neck to between the shoulder blades.

Lower back,

Tailbone,

All softening into support.

Feel the pelvis and hip joints soften.

Imagine your joints suspended,

Centered in their neutral alignment.

Equal space holding your joints effortlessly.

No pulling or tension.

The resting place for your body.

Feel the thigh bones heavy.

The knees balanced.

Ankles soft.

Toes soft.

From your toes feel into your fingertips balanced and soft.

The wrists spacious.

Elbows,

Shoulders centered and held in pure balance.

Now feel your entire rib cage from top to bottom,

Front to back.

Breathe and allow for space between each rib.

Feeling the support of all of your joints.

Allowing for the ribs to expand into space.

Finding their fullest capacity for breath.

Feel every joint,

Every bone come alive with this fullest expression of breath.

The whole body alive.

The whole body balanced,

Centered,

Floating in pure neutrality.

Feel your body in the weightlessness space.

The whole body.

The whole body.

The whole body is welcome.

Every part of you is finding its way home.

Trust that your heart is guiding this epic journey with such loving kindness.

Welcome yourself home.

How does this loving kindness feel?

How does it feel to have loving kindness all around you in space and time?

How would it be if the air we breathed was infused with this loving kindness?

And every time we received a breath,

We became filled with love.

Feel into the heaviness of your body.

Maybe it's even asleep.

And now feel into the lightness of loving kindness moving around and through you.

Feel how it is that light and heavy can coexist with one another.

Bound by a trust that one is only because of the other.

Feel these two expressions of light and heavy in your experience.

All is welcome here.

In your unique expression,

You find yourself sitting on a soft,

Stony peak at the top of a mountain.

This rocky area is smooth and open.

Trees surround you.

And as you look around,

You feel centered and in balance with this landscape.

Take a moment to inhale the air,

The scenery.

How does this place come alive for you?

You have come here with the weight of your worries,

The fogginess of your mind,

A heaviness in your heart.

You have come here to rest,

To just be in this sacred space.

Hands are connecting with the stone beneath,

Colors of nature calming your vision.

You notice your breath softening.

The breeze catches the back of your neck and instantaneously you are reminded.

You feel yourself sink into your body.

There is a wave of relief,

A coming home.

The buildup of tension and fog,

Dis-ease and fear just melt away in the stillness of a moment.

The nature within is tuned in,

Alive and open to release and receive.

An inner wisdom,

A fountain of belonging,

Let free to run wildly,

Sending messages of unconditional love.

A remembering that softness is soothing and fierce is assertive.

Feeling the breeze on your neck,

The droplets of rain amongst your skin,

The spirit surrounding you.

In this moment,

Nothing is out of touch,

Out of place or out of balance.

Belonging is in the now,

The present.

I am here now.

I hear your message.

When your worries get too much to hold onto and you feel lost and alone,

Come back to this moment and allow it to fill you with faith.

It's all in a moment.

The moment when the body gets quiet and the inner wisdom is brought alive.

This aliveness,

Your inner wisdom,

Is a centering,

A bringing back into balance.

A reminder that all will be okay.

That all is welcome.

All is welcome.

It only takes a moment.

Allow your inner wisdom to fill your entire body.

Releasing worries and receiving this wisdom and any messages or healing it brings with it.

Rest,

My dear one.

You are loved and open to receive.

Take as much time as you need to receive and I'll come to get you when you're ready.

God rich in Cleveland.

You are brought back by the warmth and beat of your heart.

A gentle pulsating filled with loving kindness.

You remind yourself of your intention that you created at the beginning of the practice.

Welcoming its words into your experience.

How does it feel at the other side of your practice?

Slowly send a message down into your whole body.

A gentle message that it's time to awaken.

As the practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.

Allow a few moments to go by before beginning to send tiny movements out into the body.

Ripples of energy to aid in a peaceful awakening.

Deepen the breath.

And eventually find yourself rolled to your favorite side.

Feeling the earth and support from the practice.

Checking in with how you are feeling.

And when you are ready,

Bring yourself to a comfortable seat and I will meet you there.

Our worries do not need holding onto.

In a moment we can be with our inner wisdom.

Allowing them to dissolve away into a moment of peace and calm.

Thank you for practicing with me today.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

I can’t judge the Nidra in any detail because my mind was off and away with so much chatter! The small miracle is that I come out feeling softened, eased, real, and grateful. I wonder if it is the music partly? My belief is that I don’t like it. Rachel has a very good vocal presence. She intones with wisdom and authority. Her voice is suffused with ‘knowing’ that doesn’t sound tricked up by ego. I want to hear it against my favourite backdrop. Silence. I am going to work with allowing the music. Welcoming it. Afterall, it’s there. Usually I sift through meds and move on from any with background sound. But I think Rachel is worth sticking around for and working with my own aversion. Thanks for this opportunity for learning and expansion.

Thank you so much for this… I’m at the hospital, 3 weeks in, soon I have a doctors appointment and this helped me so much. I was shivering and so anxious before starting and slowly as the practice went on I was able to be still and even my nausea went down a little bit. So thankful 💛
