Upon the request of a student who was recently detected with stage 4 cancer, Jay created this series for anyone dealing with terminal illness or chronic pain. Pain is inevitable in life. Suffering is optional. Today's profound and deeply healing practice is about affirming your true identity and appreciating each moment for what it is. In the course of 7 days, Jay will lead you through a series of guided imagery that will decouple the pain from suffering. In the process it is hoped that it will give you some relief and assist in healing the body.

When things are bad,

Remember,

It won't always be this way.

Take one day at a time.

Similarly,

When things are good,

Remember,

It won't always be this way.

Enjoy every great moment.

This too shall pass.

Today's meditation is about affirming your true identity.

We want you to start by relaxing your body.

Notice your breath.

Air goes in through the nasal passage,

Up and then down the windpipe,

Deep into your lungs.

And as you're breathing out,

This air comes out as a warm breath.

I want you to notice the inflection point where the air,

When it goes up through the nasal passage,

Turns around and goes down the windpipe.

That place right at the bridge of the nose where the nose meets the forehead.

Just pay attention to this place for a few moments.

That is the seat of consciousness.

I smell,

Hear,

See,

Taste and process the sensation of touch from here.

Imagine consciousness is like a spark of energy.

From this point,

The energy of peace emanates out into the rest of the body.

Imagine this emanation is like a soft white glow that radiates outwards from my forehead.

My body that surrounds me,

The point of consciousness is made of flesh and bones.

This is my costume for this role that I play right now.

It may be weak and dilapidated,

But the soul,

The self is pristine and pure.

I am a clear,

Peaceful and content being.

I am a clear,

Peaceful and content being.

Notice how you feel right now.

Thank you.

I hope you'll join me tomorrow for part three of this meditation.
