This is Canada Meditates advanced guided meditation into the night.
Winds in the east,
Mist coming in,
Like something is brewing about to begin.
Can't put my finger on what lies in store,
But I think what's to happen all happened before.
T.
L.
Travers wrote those words in her book Mary Poppins,
Whose lead character in the movie sang a song to Michael Banks about not going to sleep.
Stay awake.
Don't rest your head.
Just lie down upon your bed.
While the moon drifts in the skies,
Stay awake.
Don't close your eyes.
Young Michael Banks was no match for Mary Poppins.
And tonight there is no match for you,
Because there is no contest,
No conflict or battle.
Nothing to resist this smooth and effortless journey.
The opportunity in this moment for you to enjoy a different way to fall asleep.
First you can get really comfortable and settle in in the way that's just right for you.
And as you take a deep breath in now,
And feel your lungs and ribs expand,
You can allow yourself to relax fully as you breathe out.
Just relax and close your eyes.
Relax the muscles in your jaw,
And relax the muscles in your neck and shoulders.
And feel a warm wave of relaxation from your head right down to your toes.
You can notice the sound of your breathing as you continue to breathe easily and comfortably now.
Rifting down,
Imagine yourself resting easily in the bedroom of your mind.
You can imagine any bedroom with the most comfortable bed,
Two windows,
And a magical clock on the wall.
As you continue to relax,
You can decide what time to wake tomorrow.
And as soon as you see the hands on the clock show that time,
That's when you'll wake up tomorrow.
Whatever time you wish,
Just imagine that time on the clock.
It really is that easy.
And here in the bedroom of your mind with tomorrow looked after,
You can relax further and understand in a deeper way about the thoughts that sometimes get stuck in the bedroom of your mind.
Thoughts that swirl around with nowhere to go.
But tonight,
You need only to open a window,
An open window to give clear passage to those thoughts.
An open window to the night for thoughts to hear the invitation out into the quiet,
Out into the stillness,
Out into the vast and tranquil night.
And as the remaining thoughts are gently called out the window,
You can rest assured that right now,
In this place and time,
There really is nothing to bother you,
Nothing to worry you,
Nothing to disturb you.
Nothing just drifting out the window into the soft,
Still night.
You can imagine now there's another window in your room already open and letting in a soft breeze.
Open and inviting any dreams that may discover you on this night.
Dreams that can come in and be helpful and supportive or dreams that can be playful and dreams that can be pleasant.
And as you can sense that sleep is coming to you in a most wonderful way,
You can just notice the comfortable and gentle breeze drifting in from the window.
A window in the bedroom of your mind.
And as you give yourself permission to sleep,
Allowing yourself the luxury of sleep,
You can drift along like a leaf in the wind,
Carried away on a current of air,
Imagining the sensations of sleep drifting deeply and naturally,
Gradually everything finding its place.
Because the world is sleeping too.
All life is sleeping.
The fish in the sea.
The mammals on land.
The birds in their nests.
And the microorganisms in the ground.
The plants in the trees,
Rooted and secure,
All turning in from the outside and turning inward to the quiet.
Turning into the calm.
And the contentment and the stillness inside you now.
And you can leave the window open for dreams to visit you.
And the gentle breeze,
Soft and lovely.
Moving into the night,
Softly inside,
To the place of stillness and calm and sleep.
And with the wind in the east and the mist finally gone,
The whole world has settled on this night's sweet song.
We don't know the dreams that all lie in store,
But the sleep that you'll sleep has all happened before.
Sweet dreams.
