Hello,
This is davidji and welcome to Inside Timers Inner Peace Challenge.
What a joy this has been.
I'm so grateful to you for showing up and thank you for taking the time to invest in a little inner work,
Which is the most powerful work that we can do.
It's an inside job.
Welcome to day six of the Inner Peace Challenge and today's theme is making peace with the future.
The great master of myth,
Joseph Campbell,
Wrote,
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.
Think about that for a moment.
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.
And I think we could all pretty much think about a treasure that we are seeking in a cave that we are just unwilling or unable or just too fearful to go into.
So what's your cave?
Where do you fear to go?
What do you fear to do?
Cave is the thing that stops you from stepping into your power.
Why do you fear?
Most likely it's because you do not trust.
Perhaps you don't trust your heart or your head or the universe.
Or maybe there have been just too many times when you've second guessed yourself and this seems like another one.
But let's talk about trust,
Which is the secret for making peace with the future.
You are already connected to everything you could ever desire or need right now,
But you must trust to receive them.
And what is trust?
It's the breath you're taking right now.
It's the next thought that drifts into your awareness.
Your body is constant questing for balance even though you're not paying attention.
It's the trillions of vibrations rippling through every aspect of your being.
The digestion of your physical and emotional experiences and your ability to transform this moment into the next.
How many times do you think both of our hearts have beat just since we sat down here together today?
We trusted.
We're both still sitting here.
And so maybe we're a lot more invested and embracing of trust than we even think.
Trust is a sacred power.
It requires no convincing.
Trust is having a firm belief that whatever is flowing through you flows through everything.
It has been flowing through the cosmos for billions of years and it will continue to flow for all eternity.
Trust is deeply embedded at your very core.
You can't think your way into trust.
You can't intellectualize it.
Trust only ripens when you are ready.
And in every moment that you trust,
You are inviting the magnificence of the universe into your life with unwavering confidence.
When you lose faith,
It's not as if you have suddenly found someone else to invite.
You haven't rested your trust in some other magnificence or some other divine principle.
In that moment of wavering,
You question inviting anyone or anything into your life.
When you stop trusting,
You suddenly lose confidence in your decision.
You mistakenly believe that somehow you know better than the universe.
You selectively turn your back on the laws of the universe and everything you know to be true.
But that's like suddenly not believing that gravity will hold you down or that electricity will work when you turn on the light.
Trust is when you are fully aligned with the universe in thought,
Breath,
Word,
And deed.
And when you're in that alignment,
You allow the magnificence inside of you to shine and yourself to just step out of the way.
It's as if the universe is holding your hand and walking right beside you.
Those are the moments of spontaneous right speech where every word you say fits perfectly into the moment and accomplishes your short term,
Your long term,
And other people's goals simultaneously.
Those are those moments where clarity unfolds perfectly.
Sometimes we call this being in the zone or being in flow.
Or having a win-win experience.
In that moment of pure present moment awareness,
Every intention you have,
Every choice that you make,
Every action you take,
Fits into the situation perfectly.
It feels really good.
And it serves the universe.
So what gets in the way?
What creates the constriction that culprit is fear?
It's the emotion we feel when we sense a threat to our physiology.
Fear usually expresses itself in that primitive biological stress response we call fight-flight.
That's a self-preservation mechanism.
It's not really what our concerns are most of the time.
We've evolved over the tens of thousands of years and now we have emotional fight-flight.
Even though our lives are not in danger,
We sense a threat to our beliefs or our opinions or our expectations,
Something we're defending.
Maybe something we think we own.
Whether that's our politics or religion or a hairstyle or clothing.
Even a musical group.
In those moments where we suddenly are experiencing emotional fight-flight,
There's no threat to our physiology.
There's only a threat to our ego,
Our sense of self.
We ultimately fear that we'll fail.
We ultimately fear that we'll look like a fool.
We ultimately fear that we'll be embarrassed.
We ultimately fear that we'll be wrong again.
But that's like stopping believing in everything that has ever co-created to bring you to this moment.
Everything has been progressing exactly as it was supposed to be since you came out of the womb with all the trauma and all the heartache and heartbreak and all the successes and all the wins.
They've all been meant to divinely converge into this exact moment.
Maybe you've lost faith in the past,
But it's got you to this moment.
And this moment is perfect because every single moment leading up to this moment is perfect.
Because without it,
We don't have this opportunity to take the next step,
To lean in hard in the direction of our dreams and desires.
The universe is here to support you in every moment.
And practicing defenselessness is truly the way to transcend the fear and realign with trust because what are you defending anyway?
Fear has often been explained as false evidence appearing real.
The great teacher Elizabeth Winkler has put a spin on it.
Friend existing as resistance.
And that's really what's going on when we fear.
We're resisting taking the step.
We're resisting heeding the call.
We're resisting trusting our heart.
Fear obscures the opportunity that sits right before us.
Fear colors every thought that has the potential to sprout into magnificence.
That's why we need to trust.
Because maybe it doesn't seem like it's going to unfold perfectly,
But we've got to dip our toe in the water.
You can't know whether the water is the right temperature until you dip your toe in.
And it's okay to course correct.
You were born perfect and pure and whole.
But it's been a few years,
And so you've forgotten the majestic beauty that is resting deep inside.
And what you need,
And what I need,
And what we all need in each moment is to return to the memory of our wholeness.
That's the true definition of healing.
We must remind ourselves that we have a choice in every moment.
And that we can choose to place our attention on the best outcome,
Or the most painful outcome.
When we can make the choice from a place of equanimity,
Of calm,
Of detachment,
Trusting that we are not alone,
And that the universe is in control,
Then the highest choice always wins.
Sometimes we need a kickstart.
That's why you're here this week.
To remind us of our true eternal and boundless nature,
So that you can truly see the infinite possibilities in moments of thinking small,
Or feeling stuck,
Or buying into some limiting belief.
And we can access our unbounded view of existence through a simple practice that I call Infinity Breath.
So let's settle in here.
Let's kickstart.
Making peace with the future.
And if you'd like to lie down for this,
Feel free to do that.
Get as comfortable as possible.
Remember,
Comfort is queen.
And now let's take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And ever so gently let that go.
Let's do that one more time.
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Through your nose.
And as you exhale,
Exhale through your nose also.
And you can hear the air moving through me.
We're gonna take it deeper though.
We're gonna breathe so slowly that it's silent.
I refer to this as stealth breath or ninja breath.
How slowly can you breathe until you are silent?
This is quiet,
Continuous breathing,
Silent and seamless.
And if you can hear the air moving through you,
You're moving too quickly.
And slowly draw the divine breath of the universe deeply into you,
Gently expanding your belly.
And when it reaches its fullest point,
Ever so gently surrender that back out silently,
Seamlessly,
Quietly.
You notice that you're slowing down just a little?
The quieter we get,
The slower we go.
Let's just stay here for a little bit,
Slowing down.
Our bodies are slowing.
Our mind is slowing.
Our breath is slowing.
Our heartbeat is slowing.
Embracing the quietude.
And by now,
We've settled into this quiet,
Continuous flow of breathing.
And in your mind's eye,
And your heart's eye,
Gently paint a ribbon of breath in the shape of an infinity sign.
And follow your breath as it moves effortlessly through the infinity sign.
Silence is key.
And see if you can paint a ribbon of breath in the shape of an infinity sign.
Moving through you,
It's a closed loop.
It's so soothing.
It's pure.
This is the symbol of trust,
That you,
At your very core,
Are infinite.
And let's just stay in this space,
Painting a ribbon of breath in the shape of an infinity sign.
If you drift away to thoughts or sounds or physical sensations,
That's okay.
Ever so gently drift back to the infinity sign.
And now take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Release the infinity sign.
You can bring that into your awareness in any moment,
No matter what's going on.
But the moment you feel invisible,
The moment you stop yourself from leaning in,
The moment you realize you're playing small or dimming your light,
Just awaken your infinity breath.
Our peace practice today is one of empowerment.
The moment you find yourself second guessing,
Playing small,
Or fearing to take a step in the direction of your dreams and desires,
The moment you fear to enter the cave which holds the treasure you seek,
Take a deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Say,
I trust.
I trust.
And feel the peace inside you guiding you to the best possible outcome.
And if we jumble up the letters of the word trust,
It spells strut.
So in that moment,
Begin to strut your trust.
Take a few big steps forward and sashay right into your next big decision.
Infinity is resting inside.
This is davidji,
An insight timer wishing you peace today.
And I'll see you tomorrow.
