Good morning and welcome to the Artist Morning.
My name is Darius and you are listening to a 15 minute guided meditation specifically for artists,
Creators,
And anyone who believes there is something inside their heart that is longing to be expressed.
Sometimes it can be difficult to express ourselves.
Sometimes it can feel intimidating to share our creations with the world.
Unsure how our work will be received,
We wait for the perfect moment to follow our dreams.
But of course there is no such moment,
Yet we remain waiting.
Waiting for our turn,
Waiting for the stars to align,
Waiting for someone to give us permission to be ourselves.
This meditation is an invitation to explore the concept of waiting for permission.
This is an entirely private experience,
Nobody but you will know how you felt or what you did or did not explore.
And if you choose not to feel or explore,
That's okay too.
Just giving yourself a few minutes to sit and breathe is medicine to your heart,
Lungs,
And nervous system.
And remember,
There is no right or wrong way to meditate.
Every meditation is different,
Because every day is different.
If your mind wanders,
Let it.
That's what minds do.
Let's start by gently closing your eyes.
Settling into your seat,
Either sitting or laying down.
Letting your hands find a comfortable and easy resting place.
Noticing the floor beneath your feet,
The support beneath you,
Behind you,
Underneath all of you.
Dropping your shoulders away from your ears towards the ground.
And just noticing if there's any tension in your neck or your shoulders.
And if there is,
Use your breath to bring your attention to those spots.
Breathing,
Long inhale,
And on your exhale,
Let it go.
And just let that tension melt away.
Gently bringing your awareness to your breath.
Breathing as you breathe deep,
Your stomach moving,
Your chest moving.
Just bring your attention inwards.
And see how that feels.
Are there any sensations inside your heart,
Your chest?
Maybe some tenderness,
Some anxiety,
Maybe some excitement and joy.
Just observe,
Don't judge.
And I want to invite you to travel through time and space with me.
I want us to find a beautiful country road nestled next to a calm summer's lake.
Let's go for a walk together.
Nothing to do,
No expectations.
To carefree summer day,
The weather couldn't be more perfect.
Can you hear the kids playing by the dock on the lake?
The sounds of laughter.
Can you smell the barbecues?
The birds chirping.
See if you can take a deep breath in and smell that open summer air.
Can you feel the sun beaming?
Beaming down on your head,
Your neck,
That warm wind.
Do you remember summer?
Do you remember freedom to play and explore?
As we walk together down this dirt road,
The lake to our left,
The sun above us.
And as you walk down this path,
I want you to notice that in your right hand,
There is another hand holding you tight.
It's smaller than your hand.
As you look to your right,
There standing right next to you,
Is your child self.
This beautiful little child staring up at you.
What do you see in their eyes?
Are they excited to see you?
Do they feel safe by your side?
Are they afraid?
Whatever you see in that moment,
Notice how you feel inside.
Notice if there's a longing from your heart to give this child something.
Is it reassurance they need?
Do they need someone to see their goodness?
To believe in them?
To protect them?
If you feel called,
I invite you,
Dear artist,
To give this beautiful child a hug.
I want you to feel them in your arms,
You in your arms,
Feel how precious this beautiful child is.
And see if they need your permission to soar.
I want you to feel them in your arms,
You in your arms,
Feel how precious this beautiful child is.
I want you to feel them in your arms,
You in your arms,
Feel how precious this beautiful child is.
Permission.
We've all been waiting for someone to give us permission.
Maybe that someone,
If it was our mom,
Our dad,
Our partner,
Whoever it was,
Maybe one day it will come and everything will change.
Or maybe it will never come.
Maybe it's not their permission we need,
It's our permission.
Maybe we need to give our inner child permission to be,
To play,
To try,
To explore,
To make mistakes,
To get messy.
And maybe our inner child just needs to know that we will be there for them always.
We will love them.
We see their goodness.
I see your goodness.
I see you.
I see you.
Can you see your inner child?
Maybe you can see them,
Maybe you can't.
But just know they're there.
Dear artist,
Dear creator,
I see you.
I see your goodness.
And I give you permission to be as big and bold and brilliant and badass as you want to be.
But we both know it's not my permission you need.
Whose permission will set you free?
