Here we are at the end of the day,
As you lay in your soft bed,
Preparing to sleep,
Take a deep breath and allow all of the day's tension to just ride out on the exhale.
Take another deep breath and allow the exhale to release your body from its efforts,
From its striving.
Gently recall now all the parts of yourself that have been left somewhere else and feel the melting back into your body,
As if they were being tucked in.
Feel the rise and fall of your belly with every breath,
Soothing you like a lullaby,
And allow your body to just sink down as if it was a stone dropping through a jar of honey.
Feel the stillness of the night arising and the weight of your eyelids melting into the velvety darkness of your room.
Allow your limbs to just surrender to gravity and let your nerves unfurl.
Any worries that you may be feeling,
Allow your breaths to just smooth their edges,
As if your breaths were ocean tides smoothing rocks into pebbles.
Allow your body to now release these pebbles into the tides,
To be carried away into the far distant ocean.
Know it is safe to rest,
Just as the squirrels around you are resting in their tree holes,
Just as the trees are drooping their branches in the soft folds of night,
Just as the flowers are closed for business and the bees are resting in their hives.
Allow yourself to rest and soften your mind,
Your heart,
And your body as if you are made of warm clay.
Feel gravity pulling you down closer to the earth,
As if the earth wanted to give you a goodnight hug.
Soften all the tiny hinges and furrows on your face,
Including your jaw,
Your brows,
Your eyes,
Your temples,
Your forehead,
And your scalp.
Allow your tired vocal cords in your neck to just rest and renew themselves.
Soften your shoulders,
Let your arms know they don't need to hold on to anything anymore,
Let your hands know that they don't need to grip or make a tight fist anymore,
That they can just relax and trust fall into the arms of night.
Feel the gentle beats of your heart,
Loyally keeping you company for all these years.
Let your heart know that it can take off its armor,
That you're so thankful it continues to beat into the night,
Tending to your life.
Sink your center of gravity into your back and allow your spine to just let go.
Release your hips,
Your belly,
And allow it to take up all the space it needs.
Allow your legs to just surrender to the weight of gravity.
Let them know there's nowhere they need to go.
Same goes for your feet,
Including every toe.
Allow yourself to drift off into the music,
Wishing you a beautiful sleep and the sweetest dreams.
