Sometimes, we receive news or an event which seems to rip the very seams of our life as we know it. The usual response to this is either denial, extra grasping, or control, like we are trying to hold the shattering pieces of our life together. While these reactions temporarily shield us from the shock, it wears us out in the long run and can even fry our nervous system, which takes much longer to recover from than the actual inciting incident. When we don’t accept the stinging or even shattering reality before us, we tend to spend our energy bolting our insides against the waves of grief and pain, which compounds the pain and lodges it deeper into our tissues. So this is an extra-loving and gentle meditation to support you in tending with utmost care whatever truth or reality you may be struggling to accept. Sometimes,

We receive news or have an event literally leap at us,

Which seems to rip the very seams of our life,

The world as we know it.

The usual response to this,

And rightfully so,

Is either denial,

Extra grasping,

Or control,

Like we are trying to hold the shattering pieces of life as we know it,

Together.

We tend to spend our energy holding the door closed,

Bolting our insides against the waves of grief and pain,

Which compounds the pain and lodges it deeper into our tissues.

So this is an extra loving and gentle meditation to support you,

Intending,

With utmost care,

Whatever truth or reality you may be struggling to accept,

That will hold you in these difficult times and soothe your breaking heart.

First,

Begin making yourself at home by settling into an extra comfortable position,

Whether that's lying down or sitting in your usual meditation posture,

Strong spine,

Soft front.

And I invite you to gift yourself with the deepest breaths you have taken today,

Maybe even in the week or months,

Allowing this fresh rush of oxygen to sweep out any stale or stagnant energy that may have accumulated in your body.

Really deepen your breaths here,

As if they were sourced from the bottom of your feet,

And luxuriate in the exhales,

Allowing them to carry out all your stress.

Maybe even indulge in a few slow,

Audible sighs,

Feeling the hum vibrating inside your chest,

Dislodging any grains of tension there.

whatever pain or grief you have been bracing against i'd like you to just invite them in now gently and surrender them to these loyal caregivers of your being your breath and your heart allowing your breaths to smooth any hard edges like the ocean tide smoothing sea glass allowing your heart to bloom open and shower your hurt and fear with its deepest love and most tender compassion your heart can absolutely withstand the magnitude of your quake inner tornado or tsunami tsunami it has done so already many times before trust in this process trust in what it can hold be with this tending process for a few moments now there's no fixing or even healing anything now we're just here to include and envelop with love which is the way through in the end if tears want to fall let them parch the aching lands of your being and allow new seeds of compassion to sprout feel the rush of new life entering your system as if you've cleared old blockages or dams so your inner rivers can flow again coming to accept certain ruptures in our life is one of the hardest practices of living we come to accept by simply being with our emotions time and time again in a non-linear oftentimes messy process if you find yourself retreating into denial or repression know that is absolutely normal human and a reflection of the deep care you have inside take care to let go of your judgments and remember to hold a conversation with your breath with your heart these two best friends that have been entrusted with your care ever since you came into this world you are absolutely not alone in this and i want you to feel really proud of yourself for taking the time and effort to care for yourself today i'm going to end today's session with a quote by one of my favorite poets rilke let everything happen to you beauty and terror just keep going no feeling is final in a few moments when you're ready you can gently open your eyes and bring yourself back into your room sending you all my love until next time
