Hello and welcome.
Happy to have you here today.
For the next few moments,
All you have to do is breathe in and out through your nose.
If you find that you feel a little tight or there are sensations that feel uncomfortable,
You can use your breath as a tool to dissolve that tension,
To dissolve that feeling,
Or you can use your breath to become curious with what your body is telling you.
Often when we set some time to be with our body,
It tells us what we need to hear,
Though we can't always decipher it.
Our bodies and our minds function like a machine that often needs some tuning up.
To start this tune up,
We will get in a comfortable spine,
Feeling our sit bones press against our seat,
Lifting our shoulders up,
Back and down,
Allowing for free flowing energy in our machine.
Starting at the top of our head,
We'll notice the sensations against our scalp.
Is there a breeze?
Is there warmth?
Is there something pressed against the top of your head,
Down the sides,
Over the back?
With your next inhale,
You can focus your energy,
Your attention over your face,
Noticing the feeling of your skin on your eyebrows,
On your forehead,
Under your eyes,
Your cheekbones.
Maybe you notice feelings in your jaw that you weren't aware of before.
With this next inhale,
You can flow over your throat,
Over your neck.
Notice the placement of your shoulders and your body.
Are they high by your ears,
Opened and relaxed?
Feeling oxygen spread throughout your chest,
Through your arms,
Down to your fingertips,
Covering your palms and your wrists,
Noticing the changes in your ribs and your lungs,
Or maybe the rising and falling of your belly.
Often a lot of emotions get stuck in our hips,
Stuck in our sit bones.
Can you imagine that with each breath,
Whatever needs to be released begins to dissolve?
Whatever needs to be heard feels safe and welcomed.
Gliding over your thighs,
Your quads,
Your knees and your shins,
Noticing the placement of your feet on the ground or against the chair,
Noticing the fabric in between your toes or over your ankles.
And with each inhale,
This expansion spreads not only from your chest,
But through the top of your head,
Down to your toes,
Around the back of your body,
Up to your face,
Your ears,
Gently relaxing your shoulders.
So much so this oxygen feels as if it can go through your skin and out to the space around you.
Taking these next few breaths to become aware of the space that you're in,
Allow for sounds to seep in,
Allow for any changes in your body to be present and to be accepted.
You can begin to invite some movement into your shoulders,
Maybe even into your neck,
Into your wrists.
If you close your eyes today,
You can slowly open them up to the space that you're in.
Taking your time now,
Notice what are the things that you want to hold on to,
What are the things that you let go of in this tune up,
Remembering that you have an opportunity at any time to do this for yourself as an act of self-compassion and self-love.
I thank you for sharing this space with me today.
I hope nothing but the best comes for you for the rest of the day.
