This practice of loving-kindness is offered in reverence to all beings and our planet after a very challenging year. There is no better time than now to honor all the abundance and life that Earth supports, and it is through the energy of metta that our planet may benefit through our wishes for healing and peace.

In celebrating Earth Day,

Let us all practice loving kindness for all beings and for our planet Earth.

Coming into a comfortable seated position and establishing ourselves in a manner that connects us to the Earth.

Just take a couple of deep breaths and relax into our body.

Allow yourself to feel your contact points,

Your sit bones and your feet.

You could even imagine roots growing down from your sit bones deep down into the Earth below.

And as you breathe in,

Drawing energy towards the Earth.

And when you exhale,

Drawing the energy back up and out again.

And continue this energetic exchange for the next few minutes.

Letting thoughts arise and pass as they enter your awareness.

Just breathing,

Connecting to Earth.

Now direct your breath through your heart center,

Just breathing in through the heart and out through the heart.

And if you feel comfortable,

You could even place your palm over your heart and just feel the warmth that's generated.

Now let's set the intention to offer wishes of loving kindness to our beings and to our planet.

Beginning by calling to your mind's eye someone that's easy to love.

It could be a child or a pet,

A dear one.

And once you have this person in your heart,

Repeating silently or out loud.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

And letting this person go and calling to your mind a version of yourself that's easy to love.

Maybe it was you as a child.

It could be you now.

Or maybe it's a time you were experiencing deep love for yourself.

And once you feel this in your heart,

Repeating silently or out loud.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I live with ease.

And feeling that loving kindness expand throughout your body.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I live with ease.

May I be happy.

May I be healthy.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I live with ease.

And now begin to expand these feelings of loving kindness to include a person that's neutral.

Maybe it's a neighbor or someone you don't really know or a clerk at the grocery store.

Someone that you don't have a story attached to.

And once you have them in your heart,

Offering these wishes of loving kindness.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

Feeling the energy that is meta expanding outward.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

Let's expand the circle of loving kindness to include a person that you find challenging.

Maybe it's someone that you had a disagreement with or someone that just pushes your buttons and inviting them into your heart as best you can,

Knowing that if this becomes too difficult at any time,

You have the choice to practice self-care and return your wishes of loving kindness to yourself.

And repeating silently or out loud,

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

Breathing in and letting meta expand out even further.

May you be happy.

May you be healthy.

May you be safe and free from suffering.

May you live with ease.

Now opening your heart to all those you love and care for,

Including your friends and your family and invite them to sit with you as you offer these wishes.

May we all be happy.

May we all be healthy.

May we all be safe and free from suffering.

May we all live with ease.

Loving kindness generating to all.

May we all be happy.

As you share this energy of loving kindness,

Begin to expand your heart and inviting all living beings,

Known and unknown,

As you offer these warm wishes.

May all beings be happy.

And opening up to the earth itself,

Offering matter as we honor all that it provides us with.

May the earth be sustained and nurtured with care.

Generating energy of loving kindness to earth.

May the earth be sustained and nurtured with care.

May the earth be safe and free from harm.

May the earth begin to heal.

May the earth be at peace.

May the earth be sustained and nurtured with care.

May the earth be at peace.

Then returning your focus to your body and your breath.

Let us offer this practice of loving kindness to our planet earth.

Let us hold it in gratitude for all it has been and all it will be so we may love,

Nurture and protect it from all harm.

A beautiful pace to go through sending so much Metta to many, including the earth & all upon it as well as the more regular loving kindness aspects that I have come across in other meditations. Thank you, I shall be doing this again 🙏.
