Welcome back.
My name is Laura and this is Cultivate Your Wellness.
In today's meditation,
We'll practice the balance between paying attention and just being.
We'll connect with our anchor,
The breath.
We'll notice what's happening in the mind and in the body.
And we'll practice finding ourselves in the space between what's on the outside and what's on the inside.
Let's begin.
Closing the eyes if that feels good for you and finding your body in any position that feels right today.
And connecting with your anchor.
Let's start with the breath.
Connecting with it slowly.
We're not forcing the body or the mind or the spirit into any one place at the moment.
We're just settling in and finding what feels okay,
What feels comfortable.
And taking in the breath.
Feeling the air,
The expansion,
And letting it out again and feeling the exchange,
The body soften.
Taking in the air again,
The building of space,
And letting it out,
Softening and settling.
Once again,
Taking in the air,
Noticing the body,
Noticing the mind,
Noticing your energy as you let the air out again.
Feeling yourself perhaps a little bit calmer,
A little more anchored in the present.
And letting the breath return to a rhythm that feels good for you,
Whatever feels natural.
Staying aware of the breath while letting it move at its own rhythm.
Noticing that it's in our control,
But somehow also carrying us from moment to moment on its own.
Much like it does when we're sleeping,
The breath continues and we continue teetering between what we're aware of and what we're unaware of.
Perhaps we explore this line in the mind.
What are the thoughts?
What are we aware of?
What might be playing in the background?
What story is repeating today?
And how much are we paying attention to?
Perhaps questioning how much we need to pay attention to.
What would we like to pay attention to?
Perhaps the mind is focusing on the resistance to rest.
And if it does,
That's okay.
This is your time and space.
Your time here is just to notice,
Not to judge or try to change,
Just to be.
And if just being doesn't look or feel exactly as you think it's supposed to,
Perhaps spend a little time with that.
What is your intention?
What is your truth?
And what is the reality around you?
And how do those three things exist harmoniously?
How do we stay aware and unaware all at the same time?
Just like we do the breath,
Remembering the breath and feeling the air as it enters your body,
Creating space and letting it out.
Feeling the body let go.
Feeling yourself settle into that space.
Finding that place of comfort,
That place of trust,
Unfaltering knowing.
Resisting the urge a little longer to move from within to without.
I'll give you a few more minutes to explore on your own.
I'll call you back when it's time.
Becoming a little more aware of the sounds around you.
Once again,
Seeing yourself both within yourself and within the world and the space around you.
Feeling and feeling how the two can exist at the same time,
That infinite space around you and the infinite space within you.
Trusting that it's okay to explore both.
We practice finding the balance,
Teetering between the two.
And gently and in your own time,
Pulling yourself back into the looking and seeing and being around you.
Where does the attention go?
Where does the input lead us?
And trusting that the quiet,
Soft space we're cultivating is always there,
Even with the eyes open.
The internal eye can always be looking within,
Even as we're looking outward.
It keeps watch over us,
What we're feeling,
How we're reacting,
Maybe even offering a gentle hand of comfort.
Perhaps we grab onto that hand as we begin again to deepen the breath and invite gentle movements as we journey back into the rest of our day.
Noticing the safety of the guide,
The one always within us.
Taking in the breath,
Feeling the air and letting it out.
And when you're ready,
Opening your eyes.
Thank you for taking the time to meditate with me today.
I appreciate you and I hope you'll find your way here again soon.
Bye for now.
