Welcome to your session today.
My name is Shannon Moyer and I will be leading you in a breathwork practice designed to stir up the feeling of joy.
You can do this session seated,
You can do it lying down,
You can do it standing and walking around your space if you need to.
Eyes open or closed,
You get to be a co-creator in this experience today.
All we're going to do is breathe,
But we're going to breathe with the intention of stirring up joy.
I'll invite you first to get grounded into your body,
So if you are walking around and moving,
I invite you to stop.
I invite you to plant your feet on the ground and just for a moment to close your eyes and take a big breath in through the nose,
Down through the body,
Out through the mouth,
Envisioning that breath going all the way through the soles of your feet into the ground beneath you.
Get anchored in this moment,
Get grounded in this moment,
Allow the world around you to slow down just for a moment and then let your breath return back to normal as you open your eyes.
I would love for you to feel comfortable in this session today to do it with eyes open,
Hands down at your side,
Resting comfortably and on your next inhalation you'll be pulling that breath up in through the nose and as you do,
Raising your shoulders up as high as they will go,
Pausing at the top and as you let that breath go,
Forcefully pushing your shoulders down as far as they will go.
You might hear a slight snap,
Crackle or pop in through the neck,
In through the shoulders,
The upper spine.
That's okay,
We're going to be releasing energy,
Energy used to stir up joy.
So let's do this together,
Eyes open or closed.
I encourage you to keep them open,
Allow the space around you to envelope you,
Become one with it as you anchor into your breath to stir up joy.
Breathing in through the nose,
Raising those shoulders up as high as they will go and holding that breath ever so slightly at the top.
Then with force,
Breathing out and pushing those shoulders all the way down.
If it's helpful,
Using your hands along with your shoulders,
Breathing in,
Drawing your palms up to the sky,
Up to your shoulders as high as you can and then closing your hand,
Making a fist,
Punching,
Pushing all the way down to the ground as you let that breath go.
Breathing in,
Drawing those shoulders all the way up,
Higher and higher and higher than ever before,
Holding that breath ever so slightly and then pushing it down,
Pushing your shoulders,
Drawing your shoulder blades down your back,
Letting that breath go.
Continue this breath,
Drawing in and up with the shoulders,
Pushing down and back with your shoulder blades.
Continue in your own time,
Considering the emotion of joy.
What color is it?
Where does it live in your body?
How can raising those shoulders up as high as they'll go and then pushing them all the way down,
How can that stir up this emotion of joy?
A few more cycles of breath,
Drawing it up and in,
Pushing those shoulders,
Pulling them up as high as they'll go and then as you exhale,
Pushing your shoulders all the way down and now allowing your breath to travel back to its own natural rhythm,
Considering where in your body you found the emotion of joy,
Considering the color that you assign to this emotion of joy and then on your next inhalation,
Taking that breath that you buried down beneath your feet to anchor you down,
Drawing it up all the way through your legs,
Through your torso,
Up through your arms,
Stretching your arms up overhead and allowing that breath to come out the palm of your hands.
This big bold expression of joy anchored in your breath.
Allow it to travel out of your body into the space that surrounds you.
This beautiful expression of joy,
Harnessed so effortlessly with your breath.
I invite you once more,
Bringing your hands back down to your sides,
Drawing that breath once more in through your feet,
Up through your legs,
Your torso,
Your arms stretching up overhead almost like a column of light.
Pure joy there from your breath.
Drawing your hands to heart center to seal in your practice today,
Knowing that you can come back here anytime you need an expression of joy.
Thank you for breathing with me today,
For harnessing your joy.
You beautiful,
Beautiful,
Incredible human being.
May you live in this beautiful expression of joy.
