My name is Cori,
Thank you for coming to meditate with me.
If you'd like to make sure that you're sat in a really comfortable seated position.
I say really comfortable because it's good to be comfortable while you meditate.
Otherwise your mind will get distracted into the way that your body is talking to you.
It's like when you need to go pee and all you can think about is going to go to the bathroom.
It's the same with your physical body so if you're not comfortable while you meditate,
Your body,
The voice of your body will become louder and louder and louder and you'll be more challenged to try and come to a place of peace.
So make sure that you're comfortable.
Slow down your breathing.
Always.
By now,
Maybe even if you're at the beginning of your meditation journey,
You know that it starts to happen naturally.
As soon as you close your eyes and get ready to meditate,
Your breath slows down.
Starting to send signals to your nervous system that you're safe.
All is well in the world.
Right now in this moment,
You're safe enough to close down your eyes and be comfortable.
Pay attention to your shoulders.
Pull them down away from your ears so that your shoulders fully relax.
And let's start to just give ourselves some inner peace,
A little bit of softness,
Tenderness this morning.
Starting at the top of your head,
Just focus on the feelings and the sensations at the top of your scalp.
A lot of the time we hold tension in the scalp and around the forehead,
The temples.
So if you can be mindful in your meditation today and just really start to encourage a softness in your scalp.
See if you can use your exhale.
So as you breathe out,
Really,
Really imagine that all the tension at the top of your scalp is starting to just melt,
Soften.
You'll feel your eyebrows come a little bit lower over your eyes,
Any tension across your forehead.
Let's try and make it start to dissolve and relax.
And you do that by thinking,
Ooh,
My forehead,
My temples,
My scalp feels heavy and comfortable and relaxed.
Your thoughts always equal eventually an action.
So start to think it,
That which you want to happen in your body,
Start to think it.
Use your breath.
With your exhales,
You can always encourage softening and relaxation in the body.
You'll feel it,
It naturally happens when you breathe out.
But use your thinking to aid with the relaxation in your body.
So I can feel that my scalp and the back of my head,
My forehead,
All the skin and the tension that was there is softening and melting away.
See if you can make your breath slightly shallower.
So there's very little effort in your breath.
And that way it'll start to fall into the background and become very unconscious.
Put your attention in your cheeks.
Feel your cheeks on your face,
Feel your jaw,
All the smile muscles around your mouth.
Start to imagine that you're softening your cheeks.
Open your mouth slightly and relax any tension that you have in your jaw.
Soften.
A magical word today is soften.
So no matter what's going on in your world,
Your reality outside of your meditation practice,
Right now in this moment,
In your body,
You're feeling this softening,
The relaxation attached to that,
The inner peace that's attached to the relaxation.
We're creating this energy,
This sensation for ourselves.
Feel your throat.
Feel as the breath goes in through your nose,
Down through your throat,
Down into your lungs.
It's not until you stop and actually feel your throat that you'll notice whether it feels tight,
Whether there's any constriction there.
As you breathe out and you relax your jaw,
Purposefully feel a softening in your throat.
Like your throat drops just a little bit lower,
The tension in the sides of your throat softens and relaxes.
And then that relaxation starts to flow down into the muscles across your chest.
When you exhale,
Let them get heavy.
You're keeping your spine nice and straight.
If you're sat in a seated meditation position,
But this is a challenge.
This is a talent in itself to relax and allow the rest of the body to melt around a very structured spine.
And you keep your spine nice and straight so that any of the wisdom,
Any knowledge,
Energy can flow freely through your spinal column.
We keep the spine straight.
Everything else we need to soften around it.
Go lower down below your chest and soften the muscles in your abdomen.
Using your mind and the communication with your body,
Tell your muscles,
Relax.
Relax.
Right now in this moment,
We're safe,
Contained in a bubble of time.
Nothing else exists.
You're creating this energy and this peace,
This softening.
Move your attention down into the base of your spine and around your hips and let your hips just feel as if they're opening and completely relaxing into the surface beneath them.
Whether that's the ground,
Your pillow,
A chair.
Feel your legs.
Pay attention first to your left leg and just feel the overall space,
That part of your body.
Breathe some heaviness,
Some softness into it.
Tell your left leg,
All is well,
Can relax.
Breathe into your right leg.
Tell your right leg to get heavy.
You can be heavy and comfortable right now.
You can relax.
Let that relaxation go all the way down into your feet,
All the way to the tips of your toes,
So your toes feel some yummy softness.
How often do you just take time to go through your body and gift it,
Remind it that it can relax,
That there isn't anything else going on right now in this moment?
You're safe to relax.
We don't do this for ourselves very often.
The magic that you're delivering to your nervous system right now is probably really,
Really great.
The nervous system needs to be settled and reset.
Every once in a while we just go like bunnies most of the time.
We need to stop and relax.
Pull your attention back up to your shoulders for me and imagine that you have a warmth,
A softness at the back of your neck and across the back of your shoulders.
Allow that softness to make your shoulders feel heavy,
Like they're melting and softening.
Feel that sense of heaviness and softness roll down your upper arms.
Feel it go down to your elbows,
Traveling through your arms all the way down into your fingers,
Your hands,
Your whole body feels more at peace,
Softer,
Relaxed.
Pull your attention back into your breath and just take some conscious breaths to feel this overall sensation of relaxation in your body.
How sweet it feels just to be still,
And quiet,
And safe.
Keep your spine nice and straight and with every breath,
Allow the rest of your body to soften even more.
Completely relaxed and comfortable.
And as you're completely relaxed and comfortable,
Let's relax the mind even more by giving it some truths.
Your life,
Your body,
Your soul,
Your energy,
Knows exactly what you need.
There is nothing in your life going on presently that you cannot handle.
Everything that comes to you,
Comes to you because it's time,
And your soul knows that you're ready to go through that experience.
Let me remind you that nothing in your life comes unless you can handle it.
This is universal law.
So even at times when our lives seem to be so challenging,
Your soul knows that you can handle it,
That this is for your growth,
To experience,
To learn,
To process,
To break down so that you can break back up,
To heal,
Whatever it is that you're going through.
It's never more than you can handle.
Knowing that whatever comes your way,
You can handle,
Feeling this overall yummy sense of softness and inner peace and relaxation in your body.
You're ready to start your day.
Namaste,
My friends.
