Relax,

Rest and enjoy this moment before you sleep.

There is no need to think about anything else except the journey you are about to take,

Where you can lose yourself in a soft,

Quiet and mind soothing environment,

Allowing all your worries to fade away.

All you need to do is close your eyes and follow the words that you hear.

Behind the curtains of your eyes and deep in your imagination,

You see a short wooden staircase,

With 10 thickly carpeted steps illuminated by soft lights either side.

There is a door at the bottom that leads to an area of your mind where you visualise or dream.

In a moment,

You will begin to descend down the steps of the staircase,

And when you reach the bottom,

All of your worries,

Concerns and anxieties will have decreased.

Allowing your shoulders to slowly ease,

You take your first step downwards.

10,

Beginning to allow your breathing to settle.

Breathe in this moment that you have taken for yourself,

Become more calm as you become more present.

As you focus on the here and now,

Your breathing pattern will automatically change to a peaceful rhythm.

You notice your neck and shoulders loosen,

As any tension in the muscles of those areas reduce.

9,

Now going down another step,

Your feet are cushioned by the thick piled carpet.

Notice how quiet it is,

As you concentrate solely on yourself.

You can hear your own breathing,

You can also feel your chest expanding and contracting.

Becoming more and more relaxed now,

The tops of your arms and upper back slowly ease into a supple version of themselves.

Your shoulders now continuing to lower,

As your arms weigh them down.

8,

As you lower yourself once more,

You accept the positive calm posture that your body is relaxing into.

Your lower back,

Abdomen and hips loosen immensely,

As each breath becomes longer with relief.

Your body begins to feel lighter as your thoughts decrease further.

Stepping down to the 7th step,

Your thighs are more flexible,

As your arms and wrists hinge on the relaxation that they sense.

You are doing great,

Allow yourself to be in the moment.

Take a few seconds for yourself to appreciate how relaxed you now feel.

Notice how your breathing has settled and how calm you have become.

6,

As your feet sink into the plush carpet,

Your calves and ankles release and become liberated.

Your mind floats and wanders,

Drifting off with the tranquility of what your consciousness and body senses.

Your focus allows you to free your imagination and to slide into a more restful state.

Slowly descending down to the 5th step,

Your feet expand,

Relax and alleviate any last remaining tension.

Your soles soften as your toes splay out with the comfort that they observe.

Every thought now of solace,

Reassurance and peace.

Onto the 4th step,

The palms of your hands ease and your fingers dangle.

Every thought now is positive,

Every sensation relaxing.

Down to the 3rd step,

Every muscle on your face droops with gravity from the dilution of any concerns.

Your whole body beginning to feel heavier from letting go and allowing everything to flow.

Your mind is now quiet and only focused on what you want to think about.

Slowly sinking onto the 2nd step,

Time seems to slow down.

Your heartbeat is slower,

Your breathing is slower and time doesn't seem to matter anymore.

You are free in this moment.

Stepping onto the first step,

Your eyes soften,

Your jaw widens and your mind has space to think.

You are relaxed as relaxed can be,

You are calmer than you have ever been.

A sense of euphoria may be felt in this moment,

As you start to walk the short distance to a door up ahead.

On the other side of the door is a place that will bring you peace,

Perspective and a reminder of the self love that you should have for yourself.

Walking along the luxurious and lavish carpet,

There is a bounce to your step.

Every muscle is now loose and your mind is still.

Now at the door,

You reach for the handle and push it down.

Pushing the door,

Light slowly pours from the widening gap as you open it.

A red sunset can now be seen,

Illuminating a large lavender field.

The scent of the herbaceous purple offering is amazing.

Turning around,

You notice that the frame of the door is a large oak tree,

Its size is magnificent.

Closing the door,

The red sunset brings the fields,

Trees and flowers into an over saturated painting of colour.

A very tranquil scene indeed.

You feel the bite of the warm sun on your skin as you breathe in the clean easy air.

In front of you is a rose petal path.

There are red,

White and pink petals,

Peppered along this walkway.

In no rush at all,

You begin to gently walk,

Following the path.

The lavender waves in the warm soft breeze,

Afflicting a scent of deep relaxation to your every breath.

The red sun dips down into the horizon,

Tucking itself away for the nearing night.

You watch as the sky changes colour from red to purple,

From purple to a dark blue.

Up ahead is a bridge that crosses a trickling stream.

The soft sound of water babbling,

Drizzles a rocky bank as it flows.

The petals lead you onto a bridge,

Dampening the sound of the wooden structure beneath your feet.

The gentle and timid sound of the stream helps to clear your mind.

Your body starts to tingle in response to the flowing water.

Your muscles soften further as you notice the calm new posture your muscles present.

On reaching the other side of the bridge,

The sound of the stream lowers in volume and eventually fades out.

A high sided hedge now towers in front of you.

It is the entrance to a maze.

Looking both left and right,

You see no end to the hedgerow as it disappears into the now darker night.

Lanterns light your way to neatly and evenly distanced posts.

Entering the maze,

Everything becomes so so quiet.

This is the beginning of your journey to sleep.

Tall trees run adjacent to the hedge either side,

Rustling their plump leaves in the soft warm breeze.

It's as if they are beckoning you to continue to relax and be free.

You can be yourself here,

This is your place to feel peace,

Away from the outside world.

There is no need to think about anything,

You can focus completely on yourself.

As you look up,

The dark night sky glitters a speckled and sparkling map of stars.

You notice that some stars twinkle more than others,

And wonder how far away they can be.

The faint smile of the moon shines down on you,

Glowing a soft light of reassurance.

You now reach a junction in the maze,

That either leads to the left or the right,

You decide to go whichever way that feels comfortable to you.

As you turn round the bend,

You are met with many more trees,

Embellished with smaller patterns.

The orange glow of this wondrous space is welcoming,

Warm and comforting.

Like a mini forest,

You walk around each tree,

You see the patterns in the bark of every tree,

The leaves on the ground and only some of the details higher up.

It makes you feel warm being here,

You feel that you can relax completely.

The scent of the old bark gives you a sense of connection,

Calmness and relief as you gently brush your fingers past each trunk.

Your feet become a little heavier as the realisation that you are fully relaxed is reached.

The further you walk into this maze,

The quieter the sound of your mind.

Every breath now calm,

Composed and relaxed.

Turning the bend once again,

The maze opens up a little.

The sight and sound of a waterfall slowly becomes more noticeable.

The mist emitted from the waterfall diffuses up into the air above the trees.

The water cascades into a lake,

Where swans float.

Below a rainbow created by the misty air and the light of the night sky.

Reeds reach out from the banks,

Where large rocks enclose this magical oasis.

Dragonflies smoothly glide across the top of the waters surface,

Where ripples catch the light of the moon.

Lily pads drift in a circular motion,

Where the undercurrent guides them along.

The negative ions produced from the waterfall bring about an easier inhalation with each breath.

The air is oxygenated and filtered by nature itself.

As the maze begins to narrow,

You turn another corner.

The flowery scent of sweet and calming scents reach your nose.

White jasmine flowers send a floral range of different notes into the air from the ground,

Fresh,

Revitalising and grounding.

Roses peer with their high necks,

Their petals exuding a fruity overtone that wafts in the night breeze,

Sending positivity,

Clearness and clarity.

Eucalyptus towers the roses,

Giving off a minty scent that clears your mind,

Heals your thoughts and helps you to breathe more easily.

And a zesty coconut fragrance of gardenia fills the air,

Bringing every level of thought and emotion down to a peacefulness.

There is an aroma from many other flowers,

Your body now feeling very relaxed as you become one with yourself.

There is a wooden bench with cushions where you can take a moment for yourself.

You take a seat,

Sinking down into the plush material.

As you smell the whiff of the many flowers that bring peace,

Your mind drifts into a positive and dreamy state.

Here you don't have to think about anything,

You don't have to worry or be concerned at all with the outside world.

This place helps you to be grounded and to feel like you can relax.

As you sit,

Your legs and feet instantly loosen more.

Your back eases into a most comfortable position as you breathe in the healing flavours of the flowers.

Allow your mind to clear,

Your body to rest and for your well being to be nourished in this moment.

Now feeling very much at ease,

You decide to continue your walk through the maze.

As the scent of the flowers fades out,

You reach another corner and turn.

You are met with a small rowing boat and a short stretch of water.

The high sides of the maze head row continue adjacent to either side of the water.

Clamouring into the boat,

You take a paddle in each hand and begin to gently row.

The slushing of the water is soothing as you observe the moon being reflected in the ripples that you make.

Along you travel,

Floating and drifting further and closer to the other side.

The wrinkles on the waters surface sparkle as they catch the night time light and then spread out and settle.

You feel the energy of this moment,

The flow of positivity and tranquility.

You have now found your own rhythm as the boat drifts more easily.

A synergy is realised in every part of your mind and body.

There is a balance in everything,

From your thoughts to your emotions.

You are now becoming quite tired as you reach the mooring.

Slowing your boat down,

You ease it up to a jetty.

Climbing out of the wooden vessel,

You tie it up and observe the continued ripples in the water.

As the surface irons out and becomes motionless once again,

You feel like everything has slowed down.

Walking through the maze,

You turn once more.

This part of the maze seems empty.

You notice how quiet it is and how calm you are walking up to another junction.

On entering your chosen direction,

You are greeted with a large wooden log cabin.

A plume of white smoke drifts into the night sky from its chimney.

You are now in the middle of the maze.

There are many of the flowers that you saw earlier potted in various areas in the cabins garden.

Your chest relaxes deeply as you inhale the sleepy bouquet.

Walking towards the log cabin,

You open the door and enter.

Closing the door,

A mix of flower scents,

The old wood of the cabin and the aroma of burning logs on the stone fireplace make you feel at home.

The warmth from being inside allows your muscles to loosen deeply now,

As you walk on through exploring this cosy space.

As you would expect,

The floorboards squeak slightly as you meander.

There are many bedrooms of different shapes and sizes.

You now decide to choose a room that works for you.

You can even sleep next to the fire if you wish,

There is a pull out bed to the side.

Getting into your chosen bed for tonight,

You make yourself comfortable.

Rolling the sheets over the top of you,

Your head sinks down deeply into the pillow.

You may perhaps feel a relieving ache in your back.

All of your weight is now on the mattress and the pillow.

Breaking into comfort,

Your eyes begin to close.

You can still smell the fragrant scents of the flowers and the burning logs that are safely behind a fire guard.

It is now so so quiet that you start to drift off into sleep,

Your eyelids becoming heavier with each deeper breath of rest that you take.

Listening to the sound of your own breathing is calming and also helps you delve further into that sleepy state,

Drifting in and out.

Waves of sleepiness wash your mind and down your body.

Relinquishing any thoughts now,

You let go and release yourself into sleep.

Outside sounds fade out as your eyelids remain heavily closed.

From head to toe,

You are resting deeply.

Your neck supported by the pillow.

Each shoulder descends,

Loosening your back and chest at the same time.

As you breathe in the sleep filled air,

Your chest and rib cage widen to accommodate even longer breaths.

Time begins to slow down as your arms limply rest on the mattress.

Asleep you go,

As the weight of your hips and thighs are cradled within the bed.

Relaxed and calm,

Your legs,

Ankles and feet float on the surface beneath the sheets.

Each toe now splaying as you let go completely.

And as you fall asleep,

The palms of your hands loosen,

Allowing your fingers to release every awareness.

You are warm,

Safe,

Relaxed and at peace.

Sleep now,

Feel healed as you rest.
