What if astrology could offer you very practical insight into how you're wired emotionally and how to care for your inner world with so much more ease and compassion?
In this episode,
I'll explain to you how one small yet powerful part of your birth chart can be a guide to emotional and spiritual well-being,
Especially if you're a highly sensitive soul.
Blessings.
My name is Brenda Carey,
And I'm a holistic healer for highly sensitive souls.
Allow this time to be a sanctuary for you,
To awaken your sensitivity,
To soften,
Heal,
And reconnect to your own inner wisdom.
I am so grateful that you are here with me today.
Recently,
I became a certified astrologist.
Astrology had always been something I was curious about and interested for my own personal growth.
I admit I never felt really connected to the surface level astrology as a personality label,
But once I started to study and dive deeper,
I found so many hidden gems within a person's natal or birth chart.
Now,
First of all,
If you are not familiar with what your natal or birth chart is,
Then I would highly suggest do a quick internet search,
Look for free natal or birth chart,
And that will provide you the information that you need.
Also keep in mind that astrology is a vast philosophy and psychology,
And for simplicity,
We're just going to go over one small but really powerful aspect of your chart that I think will help inform you to how to care for your emotional and spiritual self best.
But this is also more of a launching point,
So if after this episode you decide you want to know more,
There is plenty more to learn about astrology.
So first of all,
Most of us know what our sun sign is.
Our sun sign is related to the actual day that we were born,
And this represents our conscious personality,
Our ego,
Or who we think we are.
And for myself,
I'm a Virgo sun sign,
And yes,
I think on a very surface level,
People can see that within me.
I tend to be very practical.
I'm grounded.
I also can fall into perfectionism,
But that's just such a surface layer of who I really am that the next hidden gem,
I think,
Of our natal chart is so crucial for highly sensitive souls,
And that is your moon sign.
When you find your moon sign on your natal chart,
It will be associated with a zodiac sign,
And each zodiac sign is associated with one of the four elements in nature.
So it's either a fire sign,
An air sign,
A water,
Or earth sign.
And once you know which element coordinates with your moon sign,
Your moon sign represents your emotional needs,
Like how you process those emotions.
It can also inform you on how to regulate your nervous system in a way that serves your mental and emotional health.
It can also give you an idea of which rituals and practices are going to be best for your spiritual wellness as well.
It's a much more unconscious feel to it as opposed to our more conscious sun sign.
So let's break this down.
If your moon sign is either in Aries,
Leo,
Or Sagittarius,
It is associated with the element of fire.
So the emotional landscape for a fire moon sign is going to have an intensity to it,
A passionate side coming from the heart's deepest desire.
It can also be very quick,
Or hopefully it's quick,
Because unfortunately,
If that intensity and fiery nature prolongs,
It can lead to burnout,
Or as an outward expression can be anger,
A more turned inward expression could be depression.
So the best emotional and spiritual self-care practices for a fire moon sign,
Again,
That's Aries,
Leo,
Or Sagittarius is going to be something that burns up that intensity initially.
So that could be dancing around your house.
It could be going for a brisk walk with your arms moving.
It could also be if yoga is in your practice,
A few sun salutations to get that energy moving.
It also is helpful if it has a playful element to it.
Fire signs can sometimes get a little overly intense,
So lightening it up,
Even doing something that involves laughter can also be really beneficial so that you can come into this very calm,
Cool,
And centered space.
Now,
If your moon sign is either in Cancer,
Scorpio,
Or Pisces,
These are the water elements.
And this has a very different feel to the previous fire signs that I mentioned just earlier.
So the emotional landscape of these moon water signs is going to have a more flowy feel to it,
A more empathetic and intuitive type of being.
And emotions are meant to flow naturally with this type of energy.
That being said,
A consistent mindfulness or spiritual practice where you are literally going with the flow,
Watching your emotions rise and fall without getting too attached to them.
Because when we stop up water,
Water becomes stagnant,
Then that can lead to feelings of depression or sometimes even addiction.
Some of the best self-care practices for a water moon sign,
Again,
This is Cancer,
Scorpio,
Or Pisces,
First of all,
Is to either rest by flowing water or immerse yourself in water.
If you like baths,
Whether it's like salt baths or aromatherapy baths,
Many water signs love aromatherapy,
Some type of scent to help not feel like they're going to get overwhelmed by the emotional waves that sometimes come in.
Water signs have a tendency to be high empaths,
And they will absorb the emotions of others.
I think all highly sensitive people do this to a certain extent.
Water moon signs maybe a little bit more.
I do think protection exercises can be very helpful for moon water signs.
But remember that your mindfulness and spiritual practices on a consistent daily basis to know your own boundaries and inner strength is going to be one of the most important rituals for your water moon sign.
If your moon sign is in either Taurus,
Virgo,
Or Capricorn,
These are the earth signs.
And the emotional landscape has a very grounded and steady nature to each of those in each their own unique way.
Earth signs need to have stability without stagnancy,
If that makes sense.
So there is a certain amount of physical comfort that is good for them and more tangible practices that move at a little bit slower pace than compared to the fire signs.
It's not going to be as quick and as intense and a little bit more practical than the water signs which have a more intuitive watery feel to them.
For many earth moon signs,
And again that's in Taurus,
Virgo,
Or Capricorn,
It comes through the body.
So somatic type practices where it doesn't matter so much what it looks like but how it feels within the body.
And earth signs,
They will know at which pace they want to go.
And it may change a little bit from day to day.
Other great practices for earth moon signs is earthing.
So take your socks and shoes off and go and put your bare feet into the earth.
I actually think that can be great for any moon sign,
But especially for earth moon signs.
And then earth signs are so good at noticing the details in just about anything.
So the details in a flower or an insect or a piece of art.
They also love physical aesthetics.
So that is a really great self-care practice for earth moon signs.
Finally,
We come to the moon signs of either Gemini,
Libra,
Or Aquarius.
Welcome to my moon sign.
This is the element of air and I am a Libra moon.
I can really identify with this emotional landscape.
There's an intellectual quality to this and sometimes we have to be careful to actually feel our feelings as opposed to just thinking about our feelings.
Air moon signs are going to have a need to deeply understand their emotions.
One of the best ways for air moon signs,
Again,
That's Gemini,
Libra,
Or Aquarius,
Would be through writing it out.
It could be speaking,
It could be singing,
It could be chanting,
But some way to communicate emotions and feelings and get it out and moving into the ethers.
Breathwork,
Specifically breathwork to help balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain can also be very helpful.
Again,
If you are an air sign,
Be mindful that you're not just thinking about your feelings and intellectualizing them,
But getting them to process and move through you,
Either through writing or through breathing specific breathwork techniques or chanting,
Singing,
Getting it out into the world.
I'm curious,
What's your sign?
I mean,
Moon sign.
Put that in the comments and think of which self-care practice associated with your natural element are you going to either try or continue.
And as always,
Blessings on your healing journey.
