This beautiful, guided meditation helps you let go of the "need to be more", and allows you to love and accept yourself for exactly as you are. Brooks explores the idea that we often want things to happen and continually wonder why things are or aren't happening, to the point where we get caught up in these thoughts and are dragged down to a state of feeling as though we lack true happiness or fulfilment. Let this practice be a reminder that you are enough, and that you deserve to find a sense of grounding and contentment.

Hi,

It's Brooks.

And here we are.

Take a moment to recognize your breathing.

Your lungs are breathing you.

It's great that you don't have to do it.

There's a lot of things that happen in life that you don't have to do.

You don't have to think.

Your brain thinks.

Thoughts come,

Thoughts go.

Your heart beats.

You never have to tell your heart,

Hey,

Could you beat?

And your heart goes,

Oh,

I'm sorry.

That never happens.

Your blood circulating through your body,

Spreading the oxygen.

Thank God you don't have to do that.

Imagine how many veins and capillaries there are in your body and you'd have to transport all of that blood with oxygen through and make sure it gets to every space,

But you don't have to do that.

It's great.

You get to relax.

Your cells,

They divide on their own without any prompting.

Your body is digesting itself.

Thank God you don't have to do that.

Your body is so happy to be able to digest for you.

It can't wait till you eat so it can take the food and do all the digesting so that you can get the energy from that food.

Again,

Something that you don't have to do.

There's a lot of processes in the body that happen spontaneously,

Automatically.

You're the lucky recipient of their efforts.

Take a moment to notice all that doing that's going on inside of you that you don't have to do.

So,

Here we are sitting,

Living.

This living is happening.

There are certainly times in life where we want certain things to happen.

We get frustrated when certain things don't happen.

We wonder why this isn't happening or why something is happening.

It's easy to get caught up in the events and the ideas and the feelings and the wants.

But the fun thing is,

That never really helps.

Now sometimes you get wires that get tangled up.

Good if you have earbuds for your phone and they get tangled up and it can get hard to sometimes untangle them.

Sometimes we can get tangled up in our own thoughts and feelings,

Hopes and fears.

Why can't I do this?

I should be able to manifest this.

What am I doing wrong?

If you notice,

If you're watching a comedy,

Like a sitcom,

And the characters are going through some kind of turbulence,

Like some things aren't going right in their life or they're getting frustrated,

It can be really funny to watch that.

It's not funny for the character,

But it's funny as an observer.

I think that's because we can relate.

We can relate to all that attachment to like,

Oh,

It has to be this way.

Why is this happening?

Right now all we're doing is sitting and living,

Which is happening.

And we're not having to do it.

This is the bigger picture.

These things weren't happening if we weren't able to digest or we weren't able to breathe,

Our heart wasn't beating properly,

Or something was happening with ourselves,

We'd be worried,

More worried than we were if other things weren't working out.

These things are happening as we sit here.

We'll say it's just nice to sit here and not focus on the outside world.

Part of our jobs,

I guess you could say,

Is to rest.

Like,

This is really important for functioning,

For feeling good,

For well-being.

It's so easy to get caught up in our phones and our computers,

Netflix,

Email,

But not right now.

This is your time.

This is when you get to remind yourself of how valuable you are just by being alive.

You're valuable.

You're taking this time right now.

You must be worth a lot to yourself to take this time for yourself.

When we take moments like this,

We start to remember how special we are.

When we rest within ourselves,

We see how valuable we are,

Again,

Just by being alive.

Out in the world,

There's an endless amount of things that we can do.

Even though we get accolades or success,

Sometimes not enough,

And we need to do more and more for getting approval.

It can be endless.

All the things we have to check off to think we feel,

It'll make us feel better.

When I finally do this,

When I finally get that,

When I finally am that,

That's just not in social things or work things.

It can also be spiritually.

I finally be okay when I become more accepting.

I'll finally be all right when I become enlightened.

I'll finally be worthwhile when I'm charitable or loving.

I'll finally be good when I can love myself.

As we sit quietly now and we see that we're being lived,

That we're resting,

That we're finding to ourselves.

And that quietness is an enoughness.

In that peacefulness,

There's an okayness just by sitting quietly.

Nothing new has been gained.

Nothing's been obtained.

But what happens is we remember.

We remember who we are naturally.

We remember that as we are is a wonderful thing.

Not any additions or anything added on top of it.

It's nice to remember.

Yes I am is enough.

And we can remember this during the day when all of a sudden we notice our breath when we're being breathed,

When we notice our heart beating.

When we feel a sense of presence naturally,

We remember we're okay as we are.

And we can start to think of the things that we do during the day as an activity.

We can even look at it as entertainment,

Things that we do.

There's something to do while we're awake.

Each breath that comes in and out is a reminder of again of how you're enough as you are.

And this time that you spent going within and being with your natural self will feed you and sustain you and support you during your day.

Now that you know how special you are,

You'll find yourself enjoying the day more than you usually do.

I'm pretty excited for you.

I think it's going to be something new.

And I wish you the best.

Beautiful words, artfully delivered in a calm, clear voice. The choice I made today to listen to this meditation was solely on intuition and I’m glad I listened. My intuition said, take an Epson salt bath so I readied myself for that. My intuition said, you might want to listen to a meditation. So I grabbed my iPad. My intuition said, you might want to put on your headphones. I said back to my intuition you know it might fall in the water. My intuition said, you’ll be careful it will be OK. So I got out the headphones. I started scrolling through my previous bookmarked meditations and my intuition said you might want to check out what’s new today. So I did. I scrolled through the, what’s new today meditations and when I got to this meditation, felt just right! In fact it felt so right that I stayed in the Epson salt bath for an extra 12 minutes, just soaking in the feelings and the experience. Sublime✨💫✨ thank you so much for sharing this🙏🏻

While unstructured and lacking a bell at the end, I enjoyed the introduction "hi its Brooks" and the authenticity of the guidance. I'm glad I decided to pick this practice this morning.
