One of the reasons we get so distracted in meditation is that we aren't paying attention to enough sensations. The mind is underoccupied and bored. It then creates stimulation to keep itself occupied. The stimulation it creates is what we can call "distraction." This meditation teaches you how to keep the mind full of sensation. With the mind full, it's more satisfied and tends to wander less. It becomes calmer.
