Join Allison for a 5-minute meditation. Ground into this moment right now and connect through breath. Send yourself compassion and gratitude for allowing yourself the gift of these 5 minutes just for you. What does the act of stopping and noticing the present moment do for you? My name is Allison and welcome to Insight Timer.

Find yourself in a comfortable seated position or lie down and get yourself ready for this short five-minute meditation.

Let's take three deep breaths together with the intention to ground down into whatever is supporting your body.

Take a deep breath in,

Breathe out,

And as you're breathing out ground yourself into whatever is supporting you.

Breathe in,

Breathe out,

And feel whatever is in contact with the floor below you.

Do that again.

Breathe in,

Exhale.

Now let go of that purposeful breath and bring your breathing back to normal.

And now let's get curious and listen to sounds you hear around you.

Listen for any sounds that are in the room and just name the sound.

There's no need to do anything about the sound or control the sound.

Just let the sound be.

Maybe there's sounds coming from the body.

Be in deep listening.

Get curious and listen for sounds even that are outside of your room.

And again we're not searching out for sounds.

Just letting the sounds come to your ears and let it float away.

Now notice the body.

Notice how still and quiet you are right now.

You have created that.

This is a moment of rest.

Give yourself permission to just be.

There is nothing to do here except sit and redirect the mind back to any sounds that you hear.

The mind will want to wander and that's okay.

Just redirect it back to any sounds that are coming to your ears.

Give thanks for this moment of rest.

Sending gratitude to yourself here for allowing yourself this moment to just be.

And that's exactly what you're doing.

You're just being right here.

You're a human being,

Not a human doing.

How does it feel to just be?

Get curious.

We're coming to the end of this five minute meditation.

Please just sit here in silence for a few more moments just for yourself and you can stay here as long as you need or move through your day with a sense of ease and presence.
