Welcome to this seven-part series as we dive deep into balancing one chakra energy center per session.
These meditations offer an integrative practice using essential oils,
Pranayama breathing techniques,
And hand mudras.
Essential oils are optional but enhance the practice if you have them available.
Feel free to practice this meditation without oils which will still be a deeply grounding experience.
So let's get started.
Integrative Chakra Balancing Series,
Segment 4,
The Heart Chakra,
Anahata.
This is Segment 4 of Integrative Chakra Balancing where we'll explore the Heart Chakra,
The Anahata,
Represented by the color green.
This is the Chakra of Love,
Compassion,
Generosity,
And Receptivity.
In today's meditation we'll start with an essential oil visualization,
Move into a gentle pranayama breathing practice,
And finish with a receptive hand mudra in meditation.
The Anahata Chakra is the energy center located right behind our heart.
It represents our essential nature.
You might call it our divine melody.
How well it functions impacts our openness to life and to others,
Our ability to cherish and appreciate,
And the abundant feelings of expansion and openness.
The Heart Chakra is the point of connection between the lower and upper chakras in the center of love.
To balance the Heart Chakra,
Choose floral essential oils like rose,
Lang lang,
Lotus,
And jasmine,
And woods like pine,
Patchouli,
And rosewood.
Leaves can also offer an opening of the heart,
Such as melissa and petitgrain.
If you're using oils,
Pause to gather them now or to make a blend.
Try a simple blend of rose and white pine or patchouli and melissa with a touch of lang lang,
Or just choose one oil,
Perhaps your very favorite oil for this meditation.
With your oils nearby,
Find a comfortable seated position and close your eyes.
Breathe deeply into the belly.
Now bring focus to the center of your chest,
The heart or anahata chakra,
Represented by the color green or green with a soft pink interior.
Continue to breathe.
Now imagine a glowing green light starting in the center of your chest and growing larger,
Warming the space around your heart and then the entire cavity of your chest.
Gently breathe into this area,
Bathing it in the soft color of spring.
Allow your heart to be filled up and nourished here with kindness and boundless compassion.
Now imagine the edges of your heart softening,
The green melting away and revealing the ethereal color of pale pink.
This receptive and soft interior is delicate,
Yet laced with layers of resilience and strength,
Ever renewing itself.
Breathe deeply into this heart center,
Inhaling the compassionate energy of the universe that moves through us at all times.
Continuing to breathe deeply,
Feel this soft energy of love and kindness permeates all things and is what breathes life into stars,
Galaxies and you.
Feel it moving through you with each rise and fall of the breath.
Now imagine the surface of your heart.
Now bring one hand to your heart and place the other hand gently on top of it.
Bring to mind someone you care deeply about,
Someone who gives you a warm feeling of joy.
It may be a child,
A parent,
A partner,
A friend,
A companion animal,
Anyone who warms your heart when thinking of them.
Feel a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the sheer gift that life is and how lucky you are to have this being in your life.
Cultivate this essence of love,
Feeling it permeate through your chest and then moving throughout your entire body.
Now releasing your hands,
Open your heart chakra oil,
Inhaling deeply to sealing this quality of unconditional love,
Connection and compassion for all beings.
Next we'll move into a gentle pranayama breathing technique to further open the heart and allow in radiance and joy.
Still seated comfortably with eyes closed,
We'll begin what's called the rose breath.
Take a deep inhale through your nose as though smelling the most beautiful and fragrant rose you've ever smelled.
Perhaps even a smile passes across your lips at the sheer delight of it.
At the top,
Hold just a moment and then round your lips and blow out softly as though blowing out a dandelion and watching its white airy petals take flight.
Repeat this a few more times,
A deep inhale as though inhaling the fragrant perfume of a rose and all the pleasure it brings.
Holding at the top and then slowly releasing the breath with rounded lips,
Imagining blowing out a dandelion on a warm blue sky day.
Repeat this three more times at your own pace before returning to a normal breath with eyes closed.
Now we'll complete our heart chakra integrator practice with the lotus mudra.
Bring the base of your palms to touch each other at the level of your heart.
Fan out your fingers reaching them outward and upward like petals of a lotus.
Allow your hands to create a receptacle for the love radiating from the universe.
As you breathe,
Feel this pulse of love that underlies all things pouring into your heart.
Breathe in slowly and deeply to the count of three,
Exhaling all the air out to the count of five.
Repeat this breath three more times at your own pace before gently releasing the mudra,
Relaxing your hands back on your thighs.
Music playing Music playing Music playing Now open your eyes and return to your day with a full,
Nourished heart,
Ready to both give and receive unconditional love.
Rumi reminds us,
The wound is the place where the light enters you.
Namaste.
