Welcome to this seven-part series as we dive deep into balancing one chakra energy center per session.
These meditations offer an integrative practice using essential oils,
Pranayama breathing techniques,
And hand mudras.
Essential oils are optional but enhance the practice if you have them available.
Feel free to practice this meditation without oils which will still be a deeply grounding experience.
So let's get started.
Integrative Chakra Balancing Series,
Segment 5,
The Throat Chakra,
Vishuddha.
This is Segment 5 of Integrative Chakra Balancing where we'll explore the throat chakra,
The Vishuddha,
Represented by the color blue.
This is the chakra of authenticity and speaking our truth.
In today's meditation we'll start with an essential oil visualization,
Move into a gentle pranayama breathing practice,
And finish with a hand mudra in meditation.
To balance the throat chakra look to blue oils like German chamomile and eucalyptus and rosemary for the respiratory and bronchial opening qualities.
Try a simple blend of German chamomile and pink grapefruit or eucalyptus,
Rosemary,
And lemon.
If you're using oils gather them around you now and find a comfortable seated position.
Close your eyes.
Begin to breathe deeply and slowly,
Filling the belly with air and lengthening the exhales.
Feel the rise and fall of your breath.
Now move your attention to your neck,
The area of the throat,
The Vishuddha Chakra,
The area of personal power and self-expression.
This area is like a crossing between our heart and our heads,
A mediator of emotions and thoughts.
Allow your throat to gently soften.
Envisioning a blue glowing light in this area,
Breathe into your throat center,
Clearing,
Opening,
And freeing self- expression and confidence in speaking.
Allow this blue light to feel both expansive and protective.
Imagine this blue glowing light growing,
Surrounding your throat,
Expanding outward to create a large bubble around your throat area.
Hear yourself in your mind saying,
I express myself fearlessly with truth and love.
My words bring beauty to the world.
Repeat this a few more times to yourself out loud or inside your mind.
I express myself fearlessly with truth and love.
My words bring beauty to the world.
Now open your throat chakra oil and breathe in deeply,
Sealing this energy of self-expression and authenticity into your awareness.
Now we'll do a simple throat clearing breath exercise.
On your next inhale,
Breathe strongly in through the nose and hold for a moment at the top.
Now opening your mouth,
Let all the air out with an audible exhale,
Making the sound of ha.
So it sounds like this.
With all the air released,
Close your mouth and breathe in again strongly through the nose.
Hold at the top for a moment,
Then release through the mouth with an audible exhale.
Do this three more times at your own pace.
Now we'll close out our throat chakra clearing practice with a simple hand mudra called Samputta mudra or gesture of the treasure chest for cultivating truthfulness Satya.
Still in a comfortable seated position hold out your left hand lightly in front of you slightly cupped as though catching raindrops in it.
It's in an easy position approximately in front of your navel area.
Now place your right hand also lightly cupped over the left creating a hollow space in between them a little shelter as though safely holding a butterfly.
Bring your shoulders up and down the back straightening your spine.
Close your eyes and breathe.
This mudra represents a treasure chest the treasure of our true being instilling a natural sense of integrity allowing us to communicate our truths more clearly.
Breathe deeply and slowly here focusing your energy at the throat chakra.
Now relax your hands back on your thighs and return to a normal breath.
Maya Angelou,
The great American author and poet said there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
Namaste.
