Namaskaram,
I'm Ananya.
As you listen,
Allow the body to rest just as it is.
There is nothing you need to do.
Nothing you need to change.
Simply listen and let rest come to you naturally.
Begin by arriving exactly where you are.
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing else you need to attend to.
The body has already chosen a place to rest.
Allow it to lie exactly as it is.
You do not need to improve this moment.
You do not need to prepare for anything.
Notice the surface beneath you,
How it receives your body fully.
The earth supports you without effort.
You are being held.
There is no need to hold yourself upright.
No need to remain alert.
If the eyes are open,
They may soften naturally.
If the eyes are closed,
They may rest easily behind the eyelid.
Sounds may exist around you,
Some near,
Some far away.
They do not require attention.
They do not require meaning.
They can arise and dissolve without effort.
The mind may still be active.
Thoughts may appear.
This is not something to change.
In the traditional understanding,
Rest begins not by stopping the mind,
But by allowing it to settle in its own way.
You are not here to practice.
You are not here to perform.
You are here to be rested.
As these words reach you,
The nervous system begins to recognize a familiar rhythm of safety,
A remembering.
You are allowed to let go now.
Begin by noticing the natural weight of your body,
Not creating heaviness,
Simply sensing what is already present.
Feel the back of the head resting,
The skull supported,
The neck held without effort.
Allow the head to feel heavy,
As if it is being gently cradled.
Notice the scalp.
Allow it to soften.
The forehead smooths.
The space between the eyebrows widens.
Eyes resting deeply.
No effort behind them.
Cheeks soften.
The jaw releases.
Teeth resting apart naturally.
The tongue resting wide and unforced.
Notice the throat.
Allow it to feel open,
Unstrained.
Bring awareness to the shoulders,
Often shaped by effort,
Often shaped by responsibility.
Without asking them to relax,
Allow gravity to receive them.
Even a subtle drop is enough.
Arms resting alongside the body,
Or resting gently on the body.
Feel the weight of the arms,
How they are already supported.
Hands relaxed.
Fingers loose.
There is nothing to hold,
Nothing to manage.
Now notice the chest,
The gentle movement of breath.
Breathing is happening on its own,
Just as it always has.
There is no need to guide it,
No need to deepen it.
Simply allowing breath to move without interference.
With each natural exhale,
Effort begins to withdraw.
The belly softens outward.
The lower back eases.
The hips release their grip.
Thighs resting heavily.
Knees supported.
Calves softening.
Feet warming.
Toes resting without intention.
The whole body now resting as one.
Nothing is being held up.
In the traditional teachings,
Deep rest begins when effort dissolves.
And effort is dissolving now.
Now allow awareness to soften naturally.
Not focusing.
Not observing.
Simply being.
In classical yoga nidra,
There is a state of rest deeper than ordinary sleep.
A state where the body restores itself.
And the mind no longer needs to organize experience.
You do not enter this state by effort.
It arises when effort leaves.
As the body lies still,
The senses begin to withdraw on their own.
Sounds feel more distant.
Thoughts lose their urgency.
The need to respond fades.
Thoughts may still appear.
They do not require engagement.
They move like ripples.
On a deep,
Quiet lake.
Underneath the surface movement,
There is vast stillness.
You do not need to locate this stillness.
It is already holding you.
The body begins to feel heavier.
Denser.
As though sinking inward.
This rest is deeper than sleep.
Even if sleep does not fully come,
The body is restoring.
The mind is unburdening.
This is the rest spoken of in the ancient teachings.
A rest beneath thought.
A rest beneath effort.
The words become fewer now.
The spaces between them grow longer.
Breath becomes quieter.
The body feels deeply heavy.
Thoughts thin out.
Awareness becomes diffuse.
Just rest.
Being held.
Being restored.
This is deep rest.
There is nothing more you need to hear.
Nothing more you need to do.
You may remain in this deep rest.
Or allow sleep to arrive naturally.
No effort.
No awareness required.
The words dissolve now.
Silence remains.
Holding you.
Resting you.
