Namaskaram,
I'm Ananya.
As you listen,
Allow the body to rest just as it is.
There is nothing you need to do.
Nothing you need to change.
Simply listen and let rest come to you naturally.
Begin by arriving exactly where you are.
There is nowhere else to go.
Nothing else to attend to.
The body has found a place to lie down.
The day has loosened its hold.
For these moments,
You are not required to participate in anything.
Allow the body to rest in the position it has naturally chosen.
Notice the surface beneath you,
How it receives your weight completely.
You do not need to hold yourself.
You do not need to remain alert.
The earth is already doing the work of support.
If the eyes are open,
They may soften naturally.
If the eyes are closed,
They may rest gently behind the eyelids.
Sounds may exist around you.
Near sounds,
Far sounds.
They do not require attention.
They do not require meaning.
They can arise and dissolve without effort.
The mind may still be active.
Thinking.
Remembering.
Wondering.
This is not something to correct.
In the Vedic understanding,
Rest begins not by stopping the mind,
But by allowing it to settle on its own.
You are not here to practice.
You are not here to perform Yoga Nidra.
You are here to be rested by it.
As these words reach you,
The nervous system begins to recognize a familiar rhythm of safety.
A remembering.
You are allowed to let go now.
Begin by noticing the natural heaviness of the body.
Not creating heaviness.
Simply sensing what is already present.
Feel the back of the head resting.
The skull supported.
The neck held without effort.
Allow the scalp to soften.
As though the skin itself is loosening.
The forehead smooths.
The space between the eyebrows widens.
Eyes resting deeply.
No effort behind them.
Cheeks soften.
The jaw releases.
Teeth resting apart naturally.
The tongue resting wide and unforced.
Notice the throat.
Allow it to feel open.
Unstrained.
Bring awareness to the shoulders.
Often shaped by effort.
Often shaped by responsibility.
Without asking them to relax,
Allow them to be received by gravity.
Even a subtle drop is enough.
Arms resting alongside the body or resting on the body.
Hands loose.
Fingers uncurled.
Nothing to hold.
Nothing to manage.
Notice the chest.
The gentle movement of breath.
Breathing is happening on its own.
Just as it has always done.
There is no need to guide it.
No need to deepen it.
Simply allowing breath to move without interference.
With each natural exhale,
Effort begins to withdraw.
The belly softens outward.
The lower back eases.
The hips release their grip.
As if the body no longer needs to brace.
Thighs resting heavily.
Knees supported.
Calves softening.
Feet warming.
Toes resting without intention.
The body is now resting as a whole.
Nothing is being held up.
In this ancient understanding,
Deep rest begins when effort dissolves.
And effort is dissolving now.
Now allow awareness to turn inward naturally.
Not focusing.
Not observing.
Simply being.
In Vedic Yoga Nidra,
There is a state deeper than sleep.
A state where the body restores.
And the mind no longer needs to organize experience.
You do not enter this state.
It arises when effort leaves.
As the body lies still,
The senses begin to withdraw on their own.
Sounds feel more distant.
Thoughts lose their urgency.
The need to respond fades.
Thoughts may still appear.
They do not require engagement.
They move like ripples on a deep lake.
Underneath the surface movement,
There is vast stillness.
You do not need to locate this stillness.
You do not need to remain aware of it.
It is already holding you.
The body begins to feel heavier.
Denser.
As though sinking inward.
Muscles soften when they are ready.
The mind loosens when it feels safe.
This rest is deeper than ordinary sleep.
Even if sleep does not fully come,
The body is restoring.
The nervous system is replenishing.
This is the rest the sages spoke of.
A rest that happens beneath thought.
Time becomes less important.
Sequence dissolves.
There is no need to know where you are in the practice.
Nothing is required of you.
Awareness naturally withdraws,
Like the sun setting beyond the horizon.
No efforts.
No instruction.
If images arise,
They fade.
If sensations shift,
They soften.
You may feel as though you are floating.
Or sinking.
Or disappearing into rest.
All experiences are welcome.
There is nothing to hold on to now.
The words become fewer now.
The spaces between them grow longer.
Breath becomes quieter.
The body feels deeply heavy.
As if merging with the surface below.
Thoughts thin out.
Long pauses appear between them.
Awareness becomes diffuse.
No edges.
No center.
Just rest.
Being held.
Being restored.
The mind no longer needs to organize.
The body no longer needs to guard.
This is rest beneath sleep.
A silent regenerative stillness.
Stay here if you wish.
Or drift gently into sleep.
Both are natural.
Nothing more is needed.
There is nothing more you need to hear.
Nothing more you need to do.
You may remain in this deep rest.
Or allow sleep to arrive naturally.
No effort.
No awareness required.
The words dissolve now.
Silence remains.
Holding you.
Resting you.
