The healing wisdom of the trees.
This is a meditation for physical and emotional recovery.
Trees have been symbols of healing,
Strength,
Wisdom,
And renewal for thousands of years.
They live between two worlds.
Their roots reaching deep into the earth.
While their branches stretch toward the sky.
Trees are medicine for our world.
They take in carbon dioxide and release the oxygen we depend on.
Cool the air around us.
Filter pollutants.
Protect soil.
Hold water.
And provide food and shelter for countless forms of life.
Their roots stabilize the Earth beneath them,
While their branches create entire ecosystems above.
But their medicine reaches us in other ways.
Research shows that spending time in the presence of trees can reduce stress.
Calm the nervous system.
And support emotional well-being.
Trees ask nothing from us.
Yet they continually give us oxygen,
Shade,
Beauty,
Nourishment,
Protection.
And a place to return when life becomes overwhelming.
Perhaps this is part of their wisdom.
They remind us that healing does not always require doing more.
Sometimes we heal by becoming quiet.
Breathing deeply.
Reconnecting with the earth.
And allowing ourselves to receive what nature has been offering us all along.
Hi,
I'm Ana Barreto.
Today,
I'm sharing a gentle meditation I like to use whenever I want to shift how I'm feeling.
Physically or emotionally quickly.
For thousands of years,
Trees have been honored as symbols of grounding.
Strength.
Renewal.
And life force.
Today.
Science is also helping us understand what ancient traditions have long recognized.
Being in the presence of trees and nature can create measurable physiological and emotional responses in the human body.
Helping us feel calmer.
More grounded.
And restored.
In this meditation.
We will bring these two perspectives together.
Using breath.
Visualization and intention.
We will connect with the energy of the trees.
And breathe that energy.
Through each of the body's seven main chakras.
Allow yourself to receive what the trees have always offered so freely.
Their steadiness.
Their strength.
And their quiet wisdom.
This meditation.
You can be in a park.
Or forest.
Or simply look out a window.
You will use your breath and imagination.
To connect with the energy of the trees.
You don't need to force yourself to feel or see anything.
Allow the images.
Sensations and breath to guide you.
Find a comfortable position.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
And gently exhale.
Again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
One more time,
Breathe in and out.
And let it go.
Allow your body to become a little softer.
Relax your shoulders.
Relax your face.
Allow your arms and hands to become still.
Choose one beautiful tree.
One you are drawn to.
Look at the tree.
As you inhale,
Imagine drawing the energy of the tree into your crown chakra,
Located on the top of your head.
Exhale and see that energy gently flowing back out through your crown.
Again,
Inhale the energy of the tree through your crown.
Exhale.
And allow it to flow out.
One more time,
Inhale the tree's energy and bring it into your crown chakra.
Exhale,
Release.
Now locate another tree or keep using the same one.
Inhale and draw the energy of the tree directly into your third eye located between your eyes.
Exhale and see the energy flowing back out.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your third eye chakra.
Exhale,
Release the tree energy from your third eye.
One more time.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your third eye chakra.
Exhale,
Release the tree energy from your third eye.
Locate another tree,
Or you can keep using the same tree.
Inhale and draw the energy of the tree directly into your throat chakra,
Located in the middle of your throat.
Exhale and see the energy flowing back out.
Again,
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your throat chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from your throat.
One more time.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your throat chakra.
Exhale,
Release the tree energy from your throat.
Locate another tree.
Or you can keep using the same tree.
Inhale and draw the energy of the tree directly into your heart chakra located in the middle of your chest.
Exhale and see the energy flowing back out.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your heart chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from your heart.
One more time.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your heart chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from your heart.
Find another tree or you can keep using the same tree.
Inhale and draw the energy of the tree directly into your solar plexus chakra.
Located at the center of your stomach below your breasts.
Exhale,
And see the energy flowing back out.
Again.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your solar plexus chakra Exhale.
Release the tree energy from your willpower center.
One more time.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your solar plexus chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from your third chakra.
Find another tree or you can keep using the same tree.
Inhale and draw the energy of the tree directly into your sacral chakra.
Located below your navel.
Exhale and see the energy flowing back out.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your sacral chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from below your navel.
One more time.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your sacral chakra exhale.
Release the tree energy from your second chakra.
Locate another tree,
Or you can keep using the same tree.
Inhale and draw the energy of the tree directly into the base of your spine,
Your root chakra.
Exhale,
And see the energy flowing back out.
Again.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your root chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from the base of your spine.
One more time.
Inhale the wisdom of the tree into your root chakra.
Exhale.
Release the tree energy from the first chakra.
Now we will allow the tree energy to travel through your entire body.
Find a gathering of trees,
Many trees standing together.
If you don't see a group of trees,
Close your eyes and see them in your mind's eye.
Take a slow,
Long,
Deep breath.
As you inhale,
Draw the energy of all these tree branches through the top of your head,
Entering your crown,
Moving down your entire body,
Down your torso,
Legs and feet,
And exhale into the earth,
Continuing deep into the earth.
Now become aware of another gathering of trees.
This time,
Don't focus on their branches.
See their roots.
Imagine an extraordinary network of roots beneath the Earth.
Roots intertwining.
Roots Communicating.
Roots drawing nourishment from the soil.
Roots holding the trees steady through wind and rain.
Rain.
Cold,
And changing seasons.
Inhale the root energy through the soles of your feet.
Draw the energy of the roots upward through your feet.
Feel it moving through your legs,
Torso,
Throat,
Head,
All the way to your crown.
Exhale and allow the energy to leave through the top of your head.
We will repeat this two more times.
Find a gathering of trees.

Silently say.
I receive the wisdom of the trees.
I am rooted.
I am supported.
I am renewed.
I trust the wisdom within my body.
I allow myself to return to balance.
Take one more slow,
Deep breath.
Tune into your body between earth and sky,
Just like the trees.
Rooted below.
Open above.
Supported in between.
Notice how you feel now.
Perhaps something has softened.
Perhaps something feels lighter.
Perhaps you simply feel more present.
Whatever you notice is enough.
Remember.
The wisdom of the trees is always available to you.
You do not have to travel far to receive it.
Breathe and allow yourself to reconnect through the chakras of your body.
Trust the energy of the trees.
Trust your body's wisdom.
Take one final breath in.
And slowly exhale.
When you are ready.
Gently open your eyes.
Carry the steadiness of the trees with you into the rest of your day.
And whenever life becomes too loud,
Too heavy,
Or too fast,
Return to the trees.
Return to your breath.
Return to yourself.
This is Ana Barreto signing off.
Thank you for meditating with me.
