Welcome to Day 2 of the Gratitude Challenge here on Insight Timer.
This is your daily pause to step out of the rush and pay attention to the small things in your life that often go unseen.
The moments that lift you,
The people who show up for you,
And the sense of enoughness that grows when you make space to notice what is already here.
Enjoy today's session.
Hi,
Everyone.
Welcome to Day 2 of the Gratitude Challenge.
My name is Alex L.
,
And I will be your guide for the day.
Yesterday,
You paused long enough to reconnect with gratitude as presence and awareness of what's here and what's now.
Today,
We'll bring that presence into the ordinary moments of our daily life.
Gratitude isn't only found in the big milestones or breakthroughs.
It lives in the quiet,
The familiar,
The details that surround us every single day.
Maybe that looks like the smell of your coffee in the morning,
Or the warmth of the mug from the cup of tea that you're having.
Perhaps it's the sound of laughter from another room,
A warm hug,
Or a nice handhold from someone sweet.
The softness of clean sheets,
The warmth of sunlight on your skin,
Your favorite song coming on the radio.
There are so many small moments that bring us feelings of thanks.
These mini-moments,
Or micro-moments,
That I like to call them,
Are really easy to overlook when life is moving too quickly.
But when we slow down and pay attention,
We begin to see just how much there is to be grateful for.
These glimmers of gratitude,
They remind us that we are alive and well and supported in both the simple and the profound.
Let's lean into this practice together.
Begin by finding a comfortable seat,
Sitting upright or resting in a place that feels supportive.
If you're feeling a little bit antsy,
Maybe take this on a walk with you.
Wherever this finds you,
Lean in and do what's right and good for where you are today.
If you're seated,
Close your eyes if that feels comfortable.
Or if you're walking or prefer not to close your eyes,
Just soften your gaze.
Get grounded and get present in this moment.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through the nose,
And exhale gently through the mouth.
Again,
Inhale through the nose,
Feeling the air fill your lungs,
And exhale through the mouth,
Releasing any tension you might be carrying.
Drop your shoulders and unclench your jaw,
Allowing yourself to settle here.
Let your breath be your anchor,
Steady,
Simple,
Alive.
Now begin to notice your surroundings.
The temperature of the air against your skin,
The subtle sounds in the room or outside,
The weight of your body being held by the surface beneath you if you are laying down.
These are small invitations into the present moment.
Take a breath and allow a sense of appreciation to gently rise into your being.
Not for anything extraordinary,
But just for being here.
As you breathe,
Think back over your day,
Or perhaps yesterday.
What is one small thing that brought you a sense of comfort or ease?
It could be a moment of quiet before the day began,
The smell of something cooking,
The sound of the birds outside of your window,
A message from someone you care about.
It could be the feeling of clean clothes against your skin.
Let the moments and memories come to the surface.
Hold them in your mind as if you are revisiting it with your full attention.
Notice how it feels in your body when you remember.
How does remembering bring up moments of gratitude for you?
Maybe there's a lightness in your chest or a softening in your shoulders.
Take another breath and let that gratitude expand just a little bit.
Now bring to mind a second simple pleasure or another glimmer of gratitude.
Something small,
Yet meaningful.
Maybe it's the way the sunlight filters through your curtains in the morning or the laughter of someone you love.
Maybe it's simply the taste of water when you're really thirsty.
Let yourself feel that moment fully.
Notice the peace it brings to you,
The calm,
The warmth,
The joy.
Gratitude isn't about perfection,
Friends.
It's about noticing.
When we notice,
We begin to train our minds to see what's good,
Even in the ordinary.
These micro moments of joy become reminders that life is happening right here in these simple times.
Each one a quiet spark,
A glimmer of gratitude lighting the way back to yourself and to presence.
Take a final few breaths with this awareness in mind.
Inhale gratitude.
Exhale appreciation.
Allow this feeling to linger for just a bit longer.
And when you're ready,
You can start to bring your attention back to the world around you.
As you begin to wiggle your toes,
Flutter your eyes open,
Or make your way back home if you're out for a walk,
I want to remind you that gratitude grows through bearing witness.
Fully.
Unhurried.
The more you give attention to what's already good,
The more it reveals itself.
So before you go,
Take a moment to think about three simple things that bring you joy daily.
Write them down when we're done.
Allow those few things to be your glimmers of gratitude.
They don't need to be big.
Maybe it is the smallest,
Most intimate thing that only makes sense to you.
Whatever it is,
Write them down or share them in the community challenge forum.
Let today be a reminder that joy often hides in plain sight.
And when we stop long enough to see it,
We make space for gratitude in our hearts.
Tomorrow,
On day three,
You'll explore gratitude for the people who make life softer.
The ones who remind us that we're not alone.
Thank you for being here with me today.
Until next time,
Take good care.
