Hi my name is Wanji from Africa Yoga Project.
I'm going to lead you through a certain gratitude meditation.
Find a comfortable sitting position if you're standing stand still so you can feel your feet and press down the four corners of your feet.
If you're sitting with your legs cross-legged find a long spine,
Long neck,
The clown of your head going up to the sky and tune into your breath.
Notice your breath as you inhale.
Notice your breath as you exhale.
Bring your awareness to the breath going in through your nose and going out through your nose.
Right there start to focus on what you're grateful for.
I am grateful to be alive.
I am grateful to be breathing right now.
I am grateful that I can feel my feet,
My hands and my body.
One of my favorite quotes from Melodibito is,
Don't let the fear of what if ruin the joy of what is.
And right now focus on the joy of what is.
Stay in the present moment.
When we allow the fear of what if to get into my thoughts or your thoughts I end up feeling frustrated,
Lost,
Sad and different emotions come up.
Emotions that are not really necessary because that's the story I'm creating in my head.
And now that I have this quote and I focus on the joy of what is my mind really relaxes.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Is there any fear in your mind right now that is of what if?
Choose to let that go and that fear replace it with the joy of what is.
In this period of COVID-19 my biggest fear was what if I lose a loved one and I could create a story of what would happen,
How I would feel and even cry.
But that is just what if and now that I'm focusing on the joy of what is,
The joy of having my loved one alive every day,
The joy of being able to video chat with them and the joy of being able to check on each and every one of them.
And that's what I choose to focus in,
Focus on joy of what is.
And bring your attention back to your breath.
Take a deep breath in and a full breath out.
If you're closing your eyes open your eyes.
If not it's okay feel your feet,
Your spine is long and create a mantra of the joy of what is.
Thank you.
