Hello and welcome.
Let's begin by getting still.
Let your eyes gently close or soften your gaze if that's more comfortable.
Take a breath and feel the surface beneath you.
Let your shoulders drop.
Let your face relax.
There's nothing to fix,
Nothing to do.
Just this moment.
Now imagine you're lying in a quiet room,
Maybe in bed,
Or on a couch,
Trying to rest.
Outside the window,
Cars are passing by.
Not just one or two,
But a steady flow.
Some calm,
Some loud,
Some soft,
Some jarring,
Some just background noise.
You notice them.
Maybe part of you wishes they'd stop,
So you could finally relax.
But they don't stop.
They just keep coming.
So instead of trying to block them out,
You simply notice.
There goes one car.
And another.
And another.
And another.
No need to chase them.
No need to judge them.
This is what's here.
This is what's happening.
Take a breath.
And soften into the truth of this moment.
Now feel something shift.
The cars are still there.
But you don't have to follow them.
You don't have to get in and go full ride.
You're just watching from your bed,
Safe,
Grounded,
A quiet observer.
This is happening.
But I am not this.
You're still here,
Still resting,
Still whole.
And now,
A gentle choice arises.
What if the sound of those cars could become something else?
What if,
Instead of noise,
It became rhythm?
Like the sound of a string flowing,
Steady,
Alive,
But not disturbing.
You didn't change the cars.
You changed how you hold them.
Take one more breath,
Soft,
Real,
Unforced.
This is what it is.
It is what it is.
And I choose how to meet it.
Take a moment to thank yourself for showing up.
And when you're ready,
Bring awareness back into the room.
Wiggle your fingers,
Your toes,
And gently open your eyes.
If this meditation opened something for you,
I invite you to explore my talk,
It Is What It Is,
Finding Freedom in the Truth of Now.
And my course,
It Is What It Is,
The Practice of Peace and Power,
Here on Inside Timer.
In both of those,
We'll dive deeper into the concepts of acceptance,
Detachment,
And agency.
This moment is what it is,
And you get to decide how you meet it.
