This guided practice invites you to approach your inner critic with compassionate curiosity rather than resistance. By understanding this voice as a protective mechanism trying to keep you safe from failure, you can begin to uncouple your identity from constant overthinking. We will use somatic sensing to locate where these thoughts live in the body and use a gentle verbal "reset" to signal safety to your nervous system. This 8-minute session empowers you to rewire old patterns and return to your authentic flow.

Welcome.

This is Taryn,

And I'm so glad that you're here.

This is a Wellspring Willow guided mindfulness practice to silence the inner critic.

So,

If your mind is filled with this constant chatter or a running commentary of thoughts and stories,

I invite you to pause as we learn to approach that voice with pure curiosity.

Gently close your eyes,

Or simply soften your gaze,

And begin to settle in,

Getting comfortable.

We'll begin by taking a deep,

Calming breath,

Inhaling deeply through the nose,

And as you exhale,

Allow any tension or resistance to leave your body.

One more time,

Inhaling a sense of calm,

And exhaling a feeling of overwhelm.

I invite you to now gently bring your awareness inward,

And just notice where you're feeling that voice in your body.

It's a knot in the stomach,

Lightness in the chest,

Or tension in the jaw.

There's no need to change it,

Just simply notice what's already there.

We'll take a brief moment to understand this specific voice,

The inner critic.

Research shows us that this voice is often a worried part of you,

A protection mechanism that's actually trying to keep you safe from any perceived failure or judgment.

But the thing is,

This voice only knows the past,

And the past does not have to define you.

You can let the doubt or fear merely be an insight,

Not a driving force of your actions.

I welcome you to now turn toward that voice with a compassionate lens.

Mentally,

Say to that part of you,

Thank you for trying to protect me.

I hear you,

But I am safe now.

Thank you for trying to protect me.

I hear you,

But I am safe now.

Thank you for trying to protect me.

I hear you,

But I am safe now.

As you continue to breathe,

Imagine ever so gently placing that worried,

Protective part of you in a soft,

Calm place in your heart,

Allowing it to rest.

You alone have the power to rewire the patterns and break the chains.

That voice has done its job,

And for this moment,

You are in charge.

As you feel ready,

Gently bring your attention back to your surroundings.

You have a deeper wisdom,

A true north,

That is always there.

You simply need to tune in and listen.

This moment is a return to your authentic flow.

Thank you.
